When Disney CEO Bob Chapek was forced to shut down Disney Resorts around the world because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he had no idea how long the Resorts would be closed. Some of them — like Disneyland Resort in Southern California — were closed for more than a year. However, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida was only closed for about 4 months. That was a great thing, considering the Resort was getting ready to celebrate its incredible 50th Anniversary, which would begin on October 1.
The 50th Anniversary kicked off on schedule, with a number of exciting things happening at not only the Magic Kingdom, but also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT. Each theme park had a Beacon of Light show that would be shown every night and EPCOT had a new nighttime spectacular called Harmonious and the Magic Kingdom debuted Disney Enchantment.
However, one fun event that had been announced for the 50th did not happen on schedule, and that was the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure that was supposed to take place at EPCOT. Disney did not share any information on why the event was canceled or if it would be coming to EPCOT at some point in the future.
However, that has now changed and Disney has confirmed that DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will be coming to the theme park in the near future!
We do not know exactly when DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will begin at EPCOT, but we do know that it will be in conjunction with the theme park’s 40th Anniversary celebration. EPCOT opened on October 1, 1982 — 11 years after the Magic Kingdom began welcoming Guests.
Not long after the DuckTales news was confirmed, Matt Youngberg — a writer, director, and producer on the new DuckTales series — shared on Twitter that the entire crew was deeply involved in the World Showcase Adventure.
The crew of Ducktales was heavily involved in this. I can’t wait to go see it in person! So much work on our side and on the amazing imagineers’ side to put it all together.

Here’s what we know about the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure, courtesy of Disney Wiki Fandom:
DuckTales World Showcase Adventure is an upcoming interactive game attraction for Epcot’s World Showcase based on the DuckTales reboot series (which ended the same year as the attraction), which is set to replace Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure, which was originally scheduled to set open in the Summer of 2020.
Utilizing the infrastructure from the previous incarnations of the World Showcase Adventure and the Play Disney Parks app, guests will join the Duck family in adventures around the world while fighting numerous villains from the series in Mexico, Norway, China, France, Germany, Japan, and United Kingdom.
In addition to the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure, Disney will also be offering some delicious limited-time food and drinks to celebrate EPCOT’s 40th. There will also be special merchandise that will celebrate the theme park’s 40th — and some of it will feature the icon of EPCOT, Figment.
