Rowdiness Caused By Drinking Around the World Is Nothing New Says Cast Members

Walt Disney World’s EPCOT has sparked a challenge that takes Guests on a whirlwind, drink-filled tour of the World Showcase. While some fans feel that this challenge has taken things too far, past Cast Members have set the record straight.

Whether visiting Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or EPCOT, it can’t be denied that Walt Disney World Resort is truly the Most Magical Place on Earth. Over at EPCOT, things can get a little too magical when Guests participate in a little challenge known as ‘Drinking Around the World.’

The EPCOT experience is precisely what it sounds like: purchasing an alcoholic beverage from every pavilion in the World Showcase. Combine this activity with Guests who don’t know their own limit, the Florida heat, or certain attractions of EPCOT, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster, which hasn’t gone unnoticed by Walt Disney World or other Guests.

One fan and a frequent visitor of the Walt Disney World Resort recently made a post on social media titled, “Unpopular opinion: the Epcot drinking culture is getting a little ridiculous.”

In short, the post comprises two paragraphs in which the Guest describes a noticeable uptick in rowdy behavior, “incredibly drunk and rude adults,” super long lines, and Guests getting kicked out after becoming belligerent.

Immediately, former Cast Members who had worked at the theme park before flocked to this post to share their experiences.

Reddit user r/TakeSomeFreeHoney wrote, “I worked at World Showcase about 15 years ago. It was definitely just as bad back then.”

Reddit user r/critik added, “I worked Food and Wine back in 2007. Let me tell you: I saw some things.”

User r/chuckles65 also wrote, “It’s always been like that. I worked there 17 years ago and it was the same back then. You just notice it more now that you’re older and have kids.”

So there you have it! EPCOT has always been the Disney Park for getting rowdy. Although it may seem that things are worse than before, they’ve apparently stayed the same according to former Cast Members.

In a strange way, it’s kind of comforting to know that EPCOT has always been this rowdy; as in, while the behavior can be unsavory at times, at least it hasn’t gotten any worse in the past 20 years.
