Disney’s Chief Medical Officer Fires Back, Rejecting California Governor’s Statement Regarding Disneyland

Well, the Disneyland and California Government debate over how and when Disneyland should reopen continues! After over 6 months of closure, California has yet to agree to reopen Disneyland due to COVID-19 concerns while Disney Parks around the globe are already in phased reopening. Disney’s Chief Medical Officer had a statement to share last night, October 7.

California Governor Newsom stated the following yesterday, October 7, to the media: “There’s disagreements in terms of opening a major theme park. We’re going to let science and data make that determination. I understand the friction and frustration that many business leaders have. That they want to move forward to reopen, but we’re going to be led by a health-first framework and we’re going to be stubborn about it.”

So, a statement firing back was posted to Disney Parks News Twitter last night as shown here from Dr. Pamela Hymel, Chief Medical Officer, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products:
