Disney Dining Serving up the latest Disney Eats, Treats, News, and More!
It’s the big day. You’ve spent years dating, learning, and loving that one person you want to spend the rest of your life with. You decide it’s time and buy the ring. You take that person to Disneyland, “The Happiest Place on Earth,” and get down on one knee before everyone to pop the big question. As you overcome the fear and ask if she’ll marry you, Disneyland security comes out of nowhere, stops your proposal, and escorts you away. It sounds like a horror story, but it happened to a Guest recently at Disneyland Resort in California.
Walt Disney World and Disneyland are no strangers to big moments like getting engaged. Families worldwide travel to the Parks, hoping to create a magical moment that will be remembered forever. Pregnancy announcements, military service members returning home, and marriage proposals are some of the most significant life-changing moments we see in Disney Parks. Typically they’re accompanied by loud applause and cheers from onlookers. However, while being ushered away by Disney Cast Members, boos and jeers were all that could be heard in this particular instance.

Krips Food Market posted a reel to Facebook, showing a young man who decided to pop the question right outside the gate to Disney’s California Adventure but instead was stopped and led away from cameras attempting to capture the special moment by Disney security.

It’s unclear why Disney security insisted that this marriage proposal be stopped. One search on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and any other social media site will present hundreds of photos and videos of happy couples who started their happily ever after at a Disney Park. This particular incident provides little detail, as the video only shows Cast Members asking the man to get up and exiting him to the exit of the Park. The deflated individual can be seen following the Disney security member’s directions while she communicates via radio.

This isn’t the first time a proposal has been stopped in a Disney Park. Last year, at Disneyland Paris, a man began to propose to his soon-to-be finance (hopefully) a Disney Cast Member swooped in and snatched the engagement ring from his hands motioning for the couple to move. The difference in this situation was that the man and woman involved had entered a restricted area for the proposal. In this video at Disneyland, it is clear that this individual is NOT in a restricted site as other Park Guests are watching the proposal unfold.

It is noteworthy that if proposing is part of your plan on your next Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacation, it may be a good idea to head over to Guest Services and let them know your goals. If any circumstances are preventing you from proposing, like trying to propose on a parade route, Cast Members will know. If proposing is allowed, they’d be happy to help make your special day even more magical.
