Disneyland Makes Massive Change for ‘Star Wars’ Fans Visiting in 2026
Something new is appearing on Star Wars Disney Trading Pins at Disneyland Resort. If the rollout follows the pattern of similar merchandise updates, it will spread further as the year goes on.
A New Design Surfaces at Disneyland

On Thursday, WDWNT reported that redesigned backing cards had appeared on a selection of Star Wars trading pins at the 20th Century Music Company Shop on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland Park. The updated packaging replaces plain white cardboard with blue “Disney Pins” branding, which has been the standard for open-edition pins across both United States Disney parks and the Disney Store.
The new cards are built around a predominantly black design featuring a shiny black “Disney Pins” logo at the bottom and the iconic Star Wars logo in white Aurebesh font at the top. A gray geometric border runs around the perimeter of the card, pulling from the technological aesthetic woven throughout the Lucasfilm universe, and gives the packaging a considerably more franchise-specific feel.

The pins currently sporting the updated cards include Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, R2-D2, Mandalorian, and Ewok designs. Plenty of Star Wars pins throughout Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney District are still on the original white backing, but the new design is expected to become the standard as old stock continues to cycle out.
What Collectors Should Know
The redesigned backing card is eye-catching enough that some collectors might assume it signals a limited edition or limited release, as customized packaging often does. In this case, that assumption would be wrong. The Star Wars pins featuring the new design are open editions, meaning they’ll remain available on shelves indefinitely and won’t carry the scarcity that typically accompanies specialized Disney Trading Pin packaging.

Disneyland Resort — and eventually Walt Disney World Resort and the Disney Store — appears to be moving toward franchise-specific packaging for its Star Wars pin lineup, replacing the generic format that has been in use for years. New open-edition, limited-edition, and limited-release Disney Trading Pins drop every Tuesday at both U.S. Disney parks and through the online Disney Store.
