Disneyland Opens Roles to Nonbinary Cast Members Despite Trump Policies

As Disney Parks in the United States navigate the impact of President Donald Trump’s policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Disneyland Paris Resort is taking steps to expand its casting efforts overseas. The international resort has launched a new audition call in Dublin, Ireland, welcoming nonbinary performers alongside male and female applicants.

Disneyland Paris Heads to Ireland

Disneyland Paris Resort recently posted a casting call for character and parade performers in Dublin. On February 10, 2025, hopeful Disney performers will have the chance to audition for various roles at the French theme park.

According to the official Disney Auditions post, the resort is seeking performers “willing and able to demonstrate high energy level, a full range of motions with their bodies, and good coordination.” Applicants must be at least 18 years old to be considered.

“An added Parade Performer level to Character roles requires solid dance and/or acting skills through significant training and/or stage experiences,” the audition notice reads. Disneyland Paris has also stated that it will assist non-European Union residents with Visa applications for both short-term and open-ended contracts.

Former Disneyland Paris Resort entertainment cast member Iris (@irisruddy on TikTok) shared her excitement about the auditions with her Irish followers, encouraging them to take a chance on working at the Disney Resort.

“Here are three reasons why I think you should audition,” she began:

“Your commute to work is literally walking past the castle and all the Disney music playing,” Iris explained. “It actually is just so magical, and no matter how awful I felt that day, [I] always kind of had a little ‘pinch me’ moment.”

She went on to describe the experience as a dream job for performers: “Probably the main reason is you get to do what you love every single day. You get to dance down the parade route on Main Street, and if you get to spend time with some of the characters, you’re making families happy.”

Her final reason? The incredible friendships formed while working at Disneyland Paris.

“You get to spend time with your besties every single day,” Iris added. “…We honestly used to go on rides after work or during our breaks or go for coffee…I had the best year ever.”

Aspiring Disney performers interested in joining Disneyland Paris Resort’s entertainment team must create a profile at Disney Auditions. To streamline the process, applicants can check in online the day before the audition by selecting “Disneyland Paris – Character & Parade Audition – DUBLIN (Ireland) – Feb 2025” and submitting a selfie for identity verification. Those who don’t check in online should arrive early to complete the process onsite.

Auditions will be held at Liffey Trust Studios in North Dock, Dublin, with check-in between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. Performers should wear comfortable clothing and expect to stay as late as 6:00 p.m., depending on callbacks. Disneyland Paris does not require performers to prepare material in advance, though applicants should be ready to showcase their energy, movement skills, and stage presence. Spectators or non-auditioning guests will not be permitted in the audition area.
