Disney World Shopping Gets More Complicated as Stores Reject Disney Gift Cards
Disney World guests who regularly use gift cards to pay for purchases may want to rethink their shopping plans.
For years, Disney gift cards have provided a convenient way to cover vacation expenses, especially for families who purchase them ahead of their trips. Whether someone wants to buy souvenirs or pick up a few gifts, these cards have become a popular payment option throughout Walt Disney World Resort.

However, a growing number of stores at Disney Springs are no longer accepting them.
The change affects several popular retailers, and visitors who arrive expecting to use their Disney gift cards could find themselves needing another payment method.
Several Disney Springs Stores No Longer Accept Disney Gift Cards
According to a report from Kenny the Pirate, multiple stores at Disney Springs have stopped accepting Disney gift cards, changing how guests can pay for merchandise.
The restrictions first became apparent in August 2026, when visitors discovered that Vera Bradley and Sephora were no longer accepting the cards.
Employees reportedly confirmed that the change affected certain retailers rather than every store throughout Disney Springs.

Now, another business has joined the list.
Vuori, which opened at Disney Springs earlier in October, also does not accept Disney gift cards. Unlike Vera Bradley and Sephora, the retailer opened with this restriction already in place.
That brings the number of specifically identified locations to three.
While that might not seem like a significant number compared to the many businesses operating at Disney Springs, it represents a noticeable change for guests accustomed to using Disney gift cards throughout the resort.
It also means visitors can no longer assume that every store at Disney Springs follows the same payment policies.
The Restrictions Go Beyond Traditional Disney Gift Cards
Unfortunately, Disney gift cards aren’t the only payment method affected.
The report indicates that certain Disney Springs retailers also no longer accept Disney Rewards Redemption Cards or allow guests to charge purchases directly to their Walt Disney World Resort hotel rooms.
For some visitors, those options are a major part of the Disney vacation experience.
Resort guests often appreciate the convenience of charging eligible purchases to their hotel rooms rather than carrying multiple payment cards.

Similarly, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards allow eligible cardholders to use accumulated rewards toward purchases.
However, those payment methods may not work at the affected retailers.
That could be frustrating for families who have already planned their vacation spending around these options.
Fortunately, the restrictions don’t apply everywhere.
Disney-Owned Stores and Theme Park Locations Remain Unaffected
Although certain Disney Springs retailers have stopped accepting gift cards, Disney-operated merchandise locations throughout the shopping district continue accepting them.
The restrictions also haven’t spread to the four Walt Disney World theme parks.
According to the October 22 report, retail locations inside Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom continue accepting Disney gift cards.
Even third-party vendors operating inside the theme parks still accept them, according to the report.

That means visitors can continue using their gift cards for many merchandise purchases throughout Walt Disney World.
The biggest difference involves certain independently operated businesses at Disney Springs.
For families planning to purchase Disney souvenirs, gift cards remain a useful option. However, those planning to shop at stores such as Sephora, Vera Bradley, or Vuori should prepare to use another payment method.
What This Means for Upcoming Disney World Vacations
Disney gift cards have become especially popular among visitors looking to save money before their vacations.
Some families purchase discounted gift cards through warehouse clubs or other participating retailers, while others buy them throughout the year to help manage their spending.
Disney has also made gift cards easier to access through the My Disney Experience app.
However, none of those conveniences guarantee that every retailer will accept them.
With the holiday shopping season approaching, guests visiting Disney Springs should check individual store policies before making purchases.

Disney has not announced a resort-wide end to gift card acceptance, and the reported restrictions currently involve select retailers.
Still, the changes are a reminder that shopping at Disney Springs isn’t always the same as shopping inside Disney World’s theme parks.
For now, visitors can continue using Disney gift cards throughout Disney-operated stores and the theme parks, but having another payment option available could help prevent an unexpected surprise at checkout.
