Disney World is preparing for a massive summer season, and while most guests are focused on rides and new entertainment inside the parks, Disney Springs is suddenly becoming one of the most important destinations on property.

Starting May 26, Disney officially launches “Cool Kid Summer,” a seasonal push aimed directly at families visiting Walt Disney World during the busiest travel months of the year. While the parks are getting plenty of attention, Disney Springs is adding new dance parties, family activities, interactive experiences, and entertainment offerings that could completely change how families spend their afternoons and evenings.
For a lot of visitors, this may end up being one of the smartest moves Disney makes all summer.
Disney Springs has always been popular, but historically, it was more of a nighttime location. Families would head there after a park day for dinner, shopping, or a show like Drawn to Life by Cirque du Soleil. This year feels different.
Disney is now giving guests reasons to visit much earlier in the day.
One of the bigger additions is the Disney Springs Kids Club Presented by Coppertone, which will take place near the Marketplace Splash Pad. The offering includes entertainment inspired by Polynesian culture, along with dance activities and interactive fun for kids throughout the summer season.
That matters because summer afternoons at Disney World can get brutal.

Between the Florida heat, afternoon storms, and long attraction wait times, many families end up searching for ways to slow down without fully ending their day. Disney Springs suddenly offering organized entertainment gives parents another option besides returning to the hotel.
And honestly, it may become extremely popular.
The splash pad area already attracts crowds during warmer months. Adding scheduled entertainment around it only makes the area more appealing for families with younger children.
Disney is also putting a huge focus on music and dance experiences this summer.
The new “DescenDANCE Party x Camp Rock Jam” will take place at the AdventHealth Waterside Stage on select nights throughout the season. The event ties into upcoming Disney Channel projects tied to the Descendants and Camp Rockfranchises.
Disney has leaned heavily into dance parties lately, and there is a reason for that.
They create energy fast.

Instead of guests simply watching entertainment from a distance, Disney wants families actively participating. It changes the atmosphere completely and keeps crowds engaged longer throughout the evening.
Disney Springs is also introducing interactive cookie decorating experiences at Amorette’s Patisserie, where kids can paint Mickey and Minnie cookies using edible watercolor kits.
That may sound simple, but these kinds of smaller activities are becoming increasingly important during Disney vacations. Not every family wants every second of the trip built around standing in attraction queues. A lot of guests are looking for quieter moments that still feel special.
Disney clearly understands that.
The shopping and dining district is even bringing back letter-writing activities at Disney’s Days to Christmas, allowing kids to write letters to Santa despite it only being summer.
At the same time, Drawn to Life is offering discounted kids tickets during the Cool Kid Summer season, which could drive even more traffic toward Disney Springs during evenings and hotter parts of the day.

Indoor entertainment becomes extremely valuable during Florida summers.
Parents often look for places to escape the heat for a couple of hours, and Disney Springs now offers multiple ways to do exactly that without leaving the Disney bubble.
The biggest takeaway here may actually be what all these additions say about Disney’s expectations for summer crowds.
Disney typically does not expand entertainment offerings this aggressively unless it expects major attendance levels. With new attractions, seasonal offerings, resort discounts, and school vacations all arriving at once, Walt Disney World appears ready for one of its busiest summers in recent memory.
And Disney Springs may quietly become one of the busiest places of all.
