Disney World Location May Be Closing Down in Two Months

Big changes are coming to Walt Disney World Resort as one of its theme parks is seemingly set to close indefinitely in the next couple of months, ushering in a fresh wave of updates at the Central Florida destination.

Walt Disney World Resort, located in sunny Florida, is home to four major theme parks—Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom—as well as two water parks, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Since November 2024, Disney has been operating only Blizzard Beach, with Typhoon Lagoon temporarily closed for its seasonal break.

The alternating closures of these two water parks became a regular practice during the pandemic and now seem to be part of Disney’s long-term operational plans. As a result, guests can usually expect only one water park to be open at a time—unless their visit falls during the transition period.

Historically, when one park shuts down, the other opens the next day, ensuring visitors always have access to a water park experience. Now, it looks like we have a clearer picture of when Blizzard Beach will close indefinitely, with Typhoon Lagoon poised to reopen.

The official Disney World website currently lists its operating calendar through July 20, 2025. However, Blizzard Beach is only scheduled through March 29, after which it displays “No Times Available.” At the same time, Typhoon Lagoon shows “No Time Available” for March 30. In 2024, Typhoon Lagoon reopened on March 19, and in 2023, it returned on March 17. Although March 30 is slightly later than in previous years, it aligns with Blizzard Beach’s closing timeframe.

If these patterns hold true, Blizzard Beach is expected to close for the season on March 29, with Typhoon Lagoon reopening on March 30. That said, Disney has yet to confirm these plans officially.

It has been a difficult season for Blizzard Beach, with multiple weather-related closures caused by recurring cold fronts. Just before the New Year, both Blizzard Beach and Universal’s Volcano Bay had extended closures due to severe weather conditions, and the recent frigid temperatures have continued to disrupt operations.

At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible.
