Disney World is heading into a summer that feels completely packed with changes, and June may end up being the month where guests finally start feeling all of it at once. New entertainment, returning perks, ride updates, special events, and possible closures are all colliding during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

For a lot of Disney fans, this summer already felt important because of everything launching at the end of May. But once June officially begins, the resort starts shifting in ways many guests probably are not expecting.
One of the biggest changes is happening at EPCOT. The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival officially wraps up on June 1, leaving the park without a festival until Food & Wine begins on August 27. That kind of break is pretty unusual now because EPCOT has become heavily tied to seasonal festivals year-round.

Some guests may actually love this quieter version of the park. Others may feel like something is missing without all the outdoor kitchens, extra entertainment, and festival booths spread around World Showcase.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Lagoon is preparing for a huge summer thanks to the return of H2O Glow Nights on June 2. The nighttime event has slowly become one of Disney World’s more popular summer offerings because it gives guests a way to enjoy the water park after the brutal Florida heat starts calming down.

Disney Resort guests may take even more advantage of the event this year thanks to the return of the free water park benefit on check-in day. Disney clearly seems focused on adding more value wherever it can this summer.
Hollywood Studios may end up becoming the biggest story of the entire season, though.
The park is already preparing for massive demand after the opening of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, the new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show, and the updated Mandalorian and Grogu mission coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

At the same time, the park is also scheduled to close early on June 18 for a private event, shutting down at 6 p.m. for regular guests. Shortened park hours during summer almost always create ripple effects across Disney World because crowds begin shifting toward other parks.
There are also smaller changes happening that longtime Disney fans will definitely notice.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is finally getting its water taxi service back beginning June 6 after weeks of dock maintenance. That may not sound huge to casual visitors, but the boats across Seven Seas Lagoon are one of those classic Disney transportation experiences many guests genuinely love.

Then there is Frontierland.
Westward Ho is no longer showing operating hours beginning June 22, and many fans believe another closure announcement could be coming soon as Disney continues reshaping the land. After the removal of Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, guests are paying much closer attention to every Frontierland change now.
And somehow, that still is not everything.

June also brings Stitch Day on 6/26, which has become a surprisingly major Disney merchandise event in recent years. With Stitch merchandise exploding across the parks lately, fans are already expecting bigger celebrations this year.
Honestly, June 2026 feels less like a normal Disney summer and more like the beginning of a completely different era for Walt Disney World.
