Disney World Hotel Guests Get a Big Upgrade Beginning This Summer

There’s a noticeable shift happening at Walt Disney World this summer, and it’s not just inside the parks. If anything, the biggest changes might actually be waiting for you back at your hotel.

Disney is rolling out a series of new perks as part of its Cool KIDS’ Summer initiative, and while the parks will still get plenty of attention, this push is clearly designed to make your resort feel like a bigger part of the overall experience. It’s a smart move, especially during a time of year when guests are looking for ways to slow things down between long park days.

But here’s where it gets interesting—not every resort is included.

Four hotels are getting the full lineup of new offerings: Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside. If you’re staying at one of those, your vacation might feel a little more complete this summer.

Small Details That Make a Big Difference

One of the most practical additions is something families will appreciate right away. Disney is providing complimentary childcare items at these resorts, including things like bottle warmers, infant bathtubs, diaper disposal units, and nightlights.

It may not sound exciting at first, but for parents, this is huge. Traveling with young kids usually means packing everything you might possibly need. Disney is removing some of that stress by having these items ready for you when you arrive.

It’s the kind of perk that doesn’t get a headline—but makes your trip noticeably easier.

Evenings That Don’t Feel Like the End of the Day

Another standout addition is the introduction of curated “library” spaces at these resorts. On select nights, these turn into cozy storytime events where kids can wind down with books, activities, and a relaxed atmosphere.

It’s a different pace from the parks, and that’s the point.

Instead of going from high-energy attractions straight to bedtime, families now have something in between. It gives kids a chance to settle down while still feeling like they’re part of the magic.

A Classic Disney Activity Gets New Life

Campfires are also becoming a bigger part of the experience this summer. Guests can expect evenings with marshmallow roasting and sing-alongs, bringing a more laid-back kind of entertainment to the resorts.

It’s simple, but after a full day in the parks, that’s exactly what many families are looking for.

Even better, some of these activities may pop up at resorts that don’t usually offer them, giving returning guests something new to enjoy.

More Reasons to Stay On Property

Add in the return of regular character meet and greets at these hotels, and suddenly your resort isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s another place to make memories.

And when you combine all of this with perks like Early Entry, it becomes clear what Disney is doing. They’re building a more balanced vacation where the experience doesn’t start and stop at the park gates.

This summer, your hotel stay might matter more than ever.
