Former Disney cast member Kelsey Conkling (@disneywithkels) shares stories from her time at Walt Disney World Resort on TikTok. She recently recounted one of the times a child tried to enter one of the Disney parks without a parent:

When the young guest approached the Disney Park entry, Conkling asked her age. At first, the child refused to give up “private information” and insisted that Disney cast members weren’t allowed to ask invasive questions. Eventually, the girl admitted that she was eleven.

Walt Disney World Resort’s rules state that children under 14 must be accompanied by someone 14 years or older to enter Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

“Since you’re not 14, I can’t let you in without an adult,” Conkling told the girl.

“My mom said it was fine, and I don’t think you want to mess with her,” the young guest replied.

Conkling suggested the girl call her mom to pick her up or accompany her into the Disney park. Later, the child and her mom approached the Disney cast member together.

“Excuse me, I heard you were harassing my daughter,” the mother said. “…She said you were being so mean to her. What’s the problem?”

When Conkling told the mother that her child couldn’t enter a Walt Disney World Resort theme park without supervision, the parent threatened to call a lawyer. The girl quipped that it was “age discrimination.”

“This is horrendously illegal,” her mother claimed.

Unsurprisingly, nothing came of the family’s complaints. Guests under 14 still must be accompanied by a guest over 14 to enter the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks.

At what age would you let your child visit Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park alone? Let Disney Dining know in the comments.
