It’s no secret that Disney park fans can be incredibly passionate—and when something they love disappears, they don’t move on easily. Right now, Disney is feeling that pressure more than ever, thanks to renewed interest in two “extinct” attractions that many thought were long gone.
The first? Muppet*Vision 3-D. The fan-favorite show just closed this past weekend at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it didn’t take long for longtime parkgoers to start asking big questions. Why now? And more importantly—could it actually come back?
As wild as that sounds, the timing is fueling speculation. With Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster set to be re-themed with a Muppets storyline, fans are buzzing about the possibility of a full-on Muppet expansion in that corner of the park. The Sunset Showcase Theater, currently hosting a Villains-themed show, sits right there—and would be the perfect location to resurrect Muppet*Vision 3-D in a new or even enhanced format.
The second attraction in the spotlight is one that didn’t have nearly as much fanfare when it closed: Stitch’s Great Escape! Although the attraction received mixed reviews during its run, Stitch as a character has never really gone out of style. And with the new Lilo & Stitch live-action film doing surprisingly well at the box office, Stitch fever is officially back.
That’s led many fans to start wondering if Tomorrowland might get a new attraction centered around Stitch—something more exciting and innovative than the old experience, but still true to the lovable chaos the character brings.
These kinds of movements often start small, but they grow quickly—especially when fan-favorite IPs like the Muppets and Stitch are involved. In recent years, Disney has seen the power of guest feedback (hello, Hatbox Ghost, for example), and if the noise around these two properties keeps growing, it might not be long before something actually happens.
So, are these revivals guaranteed? Not at all. But is Disney paying attention? At this point, they’d be foolish not to.
