Disney World Built a New Disney Springs Transportation System, but Guests Are Already Bypassing It

Disney officially began enforcing its new transportation rules at Disney Springs on June 28, changing how thousands of guests move around Walt Disney World. The company now limits who can board buses and boats leaving Disney Springs, requiring guests to prove they have either a Disney Resort hotel reservation or a qualifying dining or experience reservation.

On paper, the policy sounds straightforward. In reality, several loopholes still make it possible to reach Disney’s transportation network without passing through the new checkpoint.

Those remaining gaps have become one of the biggest talking points among experienced Disney visitors, especially those familiar with the resort’s transportation system.

Disney Is Focusing on One Checkpoint

Instead of checking guests at every resort bus stop, Disney has concentrated its enforcement at the Disney Springs transportation hub.

Cast Members verify reservations before allowing guests into the bus loading area. After passing that checkpoint, guests can board whichever resort bus they choose because there are no additional checks once they’re inside.

That approach simplifies enforcement, but it also leaves Disney relying on a fairly small perimeter to control a transportation system that stretches across the entire property.

As a result, guests don’t necessarily have to pass through that checkpoint to reach other parts of Walt Disney World.

Saratoga Springs Offers the Simplest Alternative

The biggest workaround involves doing something that doesn’t require transportation at all.

Guests can leave Disney Springs on foot using the bridge that connects directly to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. There are currently no reservation checks along that walkway.

After arriving at Saratoga Springs, guests have access to the resort’s regular bus service, including transportation to all four Walt Disney World theme parks.

The route adds a few extra minutes to the trip, but it completely avoids the Disney Springs transportation checkpoint.

Whether Disney eventually changes that remains to be seen, but for now, the path remains one of the easiest ways around the new restrictions.

Another Route Still Exists

The Saratoga Springs bridge isn’t the only option.

Disney’s summer transportation schedule also creates another path around the checkpoint.

Guests can board buses from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon outside the primary enforcement area. Since Disney also operates direct transportation between Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Port Orleans resorts, guests can continue into the resort transportation network without ever entering the restricted bus depot.

It’s not the quickest route, and it requires an extra transfer, but it demonstrates that Disney’s new policy isn’t completely sealed off.

Instead, the company has focused on controlling departures directly from Disney Springs rather than every possible transportation connection across property.

Could Disney Close These Gaps?

That’s the question many Disney fans are already asking.

If more guests begin using Saratoga Springs or the Typhoon Lagoon connection to avoid the new restrictions, Disney could decide additional enforcement is necessary.

The company could add Cast Members to Saratoga Springs bus stops, require reservation verification elsewhere, or even adjust transportation operations altogether.

For now, however, none of those changes have happened.

The current system feels more like the first phase of a larger transportation strategy than a finished product.

Disney clearly wants to reduce the number of guests using Disney Springs as a transportation hub, but the remaining loopholes show that accomplishing that goal isn’t as simple as placing Cast Members at one checkpoint.

Until Disney decides whether these alternative routes are acceptable, guests familiar with the resort’s layout will continue finding ways around the restrictions.
