Big changes are coming to Walt Disney World Resort in early 2025, and unfortunately for fans of fine dining, this includes the temporary closure of one of EPCOT’s most cherished dining spots.

As Disney World continues to refresh its offerings, Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera will close its doors for a brief refurbishment from January 12 through January 25, 2025. This short closure is officially noted on the Disney World website, though Disney has yet to disclose exactly what upgrades are planned. Considering the limited timeline, it’s expected that this refresh won’t be a major overhaul but rather some minor updates to enhance the guest experience.

Topolino’s Terrace, located atop Disney’s Riviera Resort, offers stunning views and serves as a premium dining experience within the EPCOT resort area. As part of Disney’s deluxe resort collection, the Riviera Resort provides an elevated atmosphere for guests looking for luxury. At this rooftop restaurant, visitors have two distinct dining options: the lively Breakfast Ă  la Art with Mickey & Friends or the more sophisticated Signature Dining dinner.

The latter features “elevated French- and Italian-inspired cuisine,” complete with a dress code to maintain its upscale ambiance. For those planning a trip to Disney World during its temporary closure, it’s worth considering alternate plans to avoid missing out on this beloved dining experience.

But Topolino’s Terrace isn’t the only experience seeing changes. January 2025 will also mark the start of several major refurbishments and closures across Walt Disney World. Most notably, Magic Kingdom’s beloved Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is set to close on January 6, 2025, for an extensive refurbishment that will last over a year. According to Disney, the classic coaster will be getting some “new magic,” with the refreshed version expected to reopen sometime in 2026. Long-time fans are eagerly awaiting what updates might come to this iconic Frontierland attraction.

Meanwhile, in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a more dramatic transformation is underway. Starting on January 13, 2025, the DinoLand U.S.A. section will see several closures as Disney prepares to retire this area in favor of a new land inspired by the Tropical Americas.

This will include the permanent closure of Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, TriceraTop Spin, and Fossil Fun Games. Teased during the D23 Expo and officially confirmed this year, the replacement land, Pueblo Esperanza, is set to debut in 2027. The area will feature attractions themed around Disney’s Encanto and the Indiana Jones franchise, along with immersive experiences designed to bring this vibrant new land to life.

As the landscape of Walt Disney World continues to evolve, these updates are a part of Disney’s strategy to stay competitive amid the looming arrival of Universal’s Epic Universe park. With new attractions, expansions, and refreshed experiences, Disney aims to retain its position as the world’s top theme park destination, drawing millions of guests each year who seek out magical, unforgettable experiences.

So, are you planning to visit Topolino’s Terrace next January, or will you have to pivot your plans? And what do you think about these ambitious updates to Disney World? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!

About Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
