Disney has announced a variety of new information when it comes to what to expect this summer at the parks. We previously shared the news that masks are no longer required outdoors. Another big announcement is the news that capacity has been and will be increased as we enter the summer months.
Walt Disney World has been running on self-imposed 35% limited capacity, but CEO Bob Chapek stated that “You’re going to see an immediate increase in the number of folks that we’re able to admit into our parks, through our reservation systems that we recently implemented, so we’re very, very excited about that.”
Chapek didn’t give an exact percentage that we can expect, but did explain that Disney raised capacity limits after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidelines Thursday and after earlier conversations with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

With travel increasing and theme parks rebounding, Disney is also excited that this means brining back people to work. During the pandemic, the company had laid off around 32,000 people and although around 80% have been asked to return, an increase in capacity means more cast members can return as well.
We expect to see more adjustments to Disney’s safe protocols as more get vaccinated and travel increases.
