Disney Teases Mufasa’s Streaming Arrival — But When Will It Hit Disney+?

Thirty years ago, Disney released The Lion King, an animated classic that follows the journey of Simba, a young lion who runs away from his pride after his uncle, Scar, convinces him that he’s responsible for the death of his father, Mufasa. As Simba grows up, he’s cared for by the carefree duo of Pumbaa the warthog and Timon the meerkat.

However, he must return to the Pride Lands when he learns that Scar has ravaged his home and the pride is on the brink of starvation.

The Lion King became a massive success, grossing over $750 million and becoming the highest-grossing film of 1994. At the time, it was also the second-highest-grossing film ever, behind Jurassic Park (1993).

The film’s immense popularity led Disney to create several sequels, short films, and animated TV shows. While none of these sequels captured the same magic as the original, they were all financially successful.

However, the 2019 live-action remake sparked some controversy, especially after Disney omitted Scar’s iconic song, “Be Prepared,” and made the animals less expressive.
