Walt Disney World brought the community extra cheer and pixie dust this holiday season. It will be a joy-filled holiday season this year thanks to the hard work and generosity of Walt Disney World Cast Members.

Over 250,000 Toys Donated

This year, Walt Disney World leaders and Cast Members volunteered for over 6,400 hours as part of Toys for Tots. Those who volunteered helped not only with the donating of the 270,000 toys but also with sorting the donated items.

Once sorted, volunteers also took time to distribute the gifts throughout Orange, Osceola, and Seminole County.

“For 100 years, giving has remained at the core of Disney’s values – from the food donated to the toys gifted and hours volunteered, it’s at the heart of what we do. This holiday season, we are so proud to continue this century-long legacy by delivering joy when and where it’s needed most, especially for our neighbors in Central Florida,” said Nelson Placa, corporate social responsibility senior manager at Walt Disney World.

History With Toys for Tots

Disney’s work with Toys for Tots began back in 1947. During this time, Toys for Tots reached out to Disney to create the logo we now see.

Disney’s support of Toys for Tots each holiday season helps make the seasons slightly more magical for those who need it the most. The kick-off for the Toys for Tots campaign begins each year in early November and runs through mid-December.

Those wishing to help out have two ways to do so. One option is to head to shopDisney through December 24, 2023 and donate a toy. You can also drop off new, unwrapped toys in person at select locations.

Toys for Tots is just one of many organizations that The Walt Disney Company works with throughout the year to help spread joy, magic, and pixie dust to those who need it. It is great to see their positive impact outside of the Disney Parks.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
