Disney CEO Bob Iger has gotten into the spirit of the season, recently sending a holiday message of gratefulness and wishes for prosperity to Disney fans around the globe.
As the year 2023 draws to a close, people from every walk of life find themselves looking back over the last twelve months. Some analyze what went right and what went wrong over the course of the year, and some take it one step further, looking deeper into the possible reasons for successes and perceived failures, promising themselves they’ll do less of what led to their failures and more of what might have been behind their successes.
Some look back over the year and think about the ones they’ve loved and lost during 2023, and they find themselves filled with a multitude of thoughts, musings, and feelings–sometimes one at a time and sometimes all at once.
But many also look at the end of the year as a time of humble reflection, mixed with thankfulness, choosing to focus on the things for which they are most grateful and looking forward to the new year with excitement, optimism, and the anticipation of great things.
Disney’s CEO Bob Iger, having been back at his post as chief executive officer at The Walt Disney Company for over a year now, shared a mix of thankfulness, humility, friendship, nostalgia, and inspiration in his holiday message to fans around the world. He touted 2023 as a “momentous year” in the history of The Walt Disney Company as it marked the 100th anniversary of the company’s beginnings.
The message, which was sent to D23 members this week, reads as follows:
We at Disney have so much to be grateful for this year, especially dedicated fans like you. As D23 Members, we know how deeply you care about what we create, and we’re so fortunate to have you with us on this journey. Your passion and enthusiasm are contagious, and you inspire us to continue raising the bar every day.
This year, we were thrilled to have you join us in celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary. As this momentous year in our company’s history draws to a close, I can say with confidence that we have so much more to look forward to as we build on a century of creative excellence and continue to entertain, delight, and inspire fans like you.
On behalf of all of us at The Walt Disney Company, I want to wish you a wonderful holiday season and a very happy and prosperous New Year.
What do you think about Iger’s message to fans? Did he say enough? Did he say too much? And do you feel like his greeting was genuine? Does his message make you excited about the direction of The Walt Disney Company, or are there things you feel should be changed immediately?
