Walt Disney World Resort guests aboard the Disney Skyliner may soon experience an unexpected change, thanks to none other than President Donald Trump. As the newly inaugurated U.S. president, Trump wasted no time in issuing a series of executive orders—one of which has an unexpected connection to Walt Disney World Resort’s beloved gondola system.
Donald Trump Takes Office
On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term. Mere hours after his inauguration, he signed multiple executive orders, one of which renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” While this may not seem like an immediate concern for Disney Park guests, the order could have ripple effects on the Disney Skyliner experience.
The Disney Skyliner, which debuted at Walt Disney World Resort in 2019, provides a scenic mode of transportation between EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and several Disney Resorts, including Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
But the ride experience isn’t just about getting from one place to another—it also includes pre-recorded spiels that provide fun facts about Walt Disney World Resort, including a key detail about Central Florida’s waterways.
A Disney Skyliner Announcement in Question
One particular spiel played for guests traveling back to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort from Disney’s Hollywood Studios states:
“In just a few moments, we will be traveling over the headwaters of the Everglades. The water that flows from the protected wetlands around Walt Disney World Resort travels all the way to the Everglades, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico.”
With Trump’s executive order officially renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America,” this Disney Skyliner announcement may now be outdated.
Will Disney Change the Skyliner Spiel?
While Walt Disney World Resort has not made an official statement on whether it will update the Skyliner’s pre-recorded spiel to reflect the Gulf of America’s new name, the implication is clear—if Disney chooses to keep the spiel unchanged, it may technically be factually incorrect under the new federal designation.
Disney’s Hall of Presidents Already Undergoing Updates
This news comes as Magic Kingdom Park refurbishes its Hall of Presidents attraction, which traditionally shuts down to install an animatronic representation of the newly sworn-in or re-elected U.S. president.

It’s unbelievably power mad and totally unnecessary to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. All countries can behave in this way but because they’re normal they don’t even think of doing so.
Seeing as the rest of the world still recognizes the official name as The Gulf of Mexico and with so many international vacationers it should remain as is. No one else recognizes it as the the gulf of America.
It’s a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. Think of all the maps, textbooks etc that will be changed. And for what? An overblown mans ego?
No I don’t support the change and I hope Disney keeps the recording as it is. As someone else said there are so many international visitors who would be confused.
With all that is wrong in our country, this self centered moron finds things like this to implement. He and his brainwashed followers can call it what they want. The rest of us will call it what it has always been. I hope Disney does the same!
Just say “to the Gulf Coast”. Problem solved. We look like idiots with this ” Gulf of America” crap. It was the Gulf of Mexico before we were the U.S.A.
I love reading comments from woke Disney-heads! You guys are so heartbroken that the evil Trump was reelected! Ha ha ha! Welcome to a whole new world!
If you had obe more brain, what a half wit you’d be. You’re the exact reason the US needs a better education system.
