Tomorrowland sounded a little different today.
As guests boarded the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom, one familiar part of the attraction’s narration was no longer there. The update comes after Carousel of Progress officially closed for refurbishment, prompting Disney to adjust the PeopleMover script to match the attraction’s temporary closure.

It’s the kind of change many visitors won’t even notice. But for Disney fans who have ridden the PeopleMover countless times, even a single missing line stands out.
The attraction has long served as a relaxing tour through Tomorrowland, offering elevated views while pointing out many of the land’s signature experiences. As the ride passes Carousel of Progress, the narration has traditionally encouraged guests to visit the classic show. With the theater now closed, that invitation has been removed.
Disney has made similar updates before whenever attractions temporarily close or permanent changes reshape Tomorrowland. Keeping the narration current helps avoid directing guests toward experiences that aren’t available while maintaining the illusion that the PeopleMover is providing a live tour of the land.
Carousel of Progress began its scheduled refurbishment today, temporarily taking one of Magic Kingdom’s most historic attractions out of operation. Disney hasn’t shared many details about the project, but routine maintenance is essential for a show built around a rotating theater and dozens of Audio-Animatronics.
Many fans hope the refurbishment will improve show lighting, audio, timing, and other technical elements that naturally require attention after years of daily operation. Others simply hope Disney preserves everything that has made the attraction special for generations.

That connection to Disney history remains one of Carousel of Progress’ biggest draws. Originally created for the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair, the attraction represents one of the final projects personally developed under Walt Disney’s direction. Its move to Magic Kingdom helped preserve one of the company’s most important pieces of storytelling history.
Meanwhile, the PeopleMover continues doing what it has always done—quietly reflecting the evolution of Tomorrowland.

As attractions come and go, construction walls appear, and new experiences arrive, the narration changes with them. Over the years, Disney has updated the script following major additions and closures throughout the land, making today’s adjustment feel like another natural part of Tomorrowland’s ongoing evolution.
The revised narration will likely remain in place until Carousel of Progress reopens. Once guests can once again enter the rotating theater, Disney will likely restore the attraction’s mention to the PeopleMover script.
Until then, Tomorrowland’s scenic tour offers one small reminder that even Magic Kingdom’s most familiar attractions are always changing. Sometimes those changes arrive through brand-new rides. Other times, they’re as simple as one missing sentence that longtime fans instantly recognize.
