Disney Parks has just made an exciting announcement about the opening of a long-awaited, long-hoped-for, and exciting themed land at one Disney resort, just in time for the Christmas holidays.
First announced in 2019, Zootopia Land has been under construction for years. On Tuesday morning, however, Disney Parks announced that the land is finally opening to guests at Shanghai Disneyland Resort later this year. Read on for more details about this all-new experience!

Mammals big and small are invited to come experience the incredible land and all the details that make the beloved film come to life. Each element of the new land – from food and beverage, entertainment, merchandise, and more–has been specially designed to immerse you in the mammalian metropolis.
According to the post, there are several ways to “step right into the Disney Animation film Zootopia in this all-new land.”
Prepare to step into the vibrant city atmosphere of Zootopia like never before, with storefronts along the streets that tell a unique story. Stroll by the Beaver Dentist, where you can listen to the sounds of patients having their teeth worked on through the window. At the Hibernation Hotel, a modern “pod” style hotel where Zootopia’s bears and other residents hibernate, you can even hear them snoring from their cavernous rooms. Don’t miss the Arctic Spa, specially designed for polar bears, where you might overhear Mr. Big’s henchmen humorously discussing their plans to attend tonight’s Zootopia Day Concert.

Guests will get to immerse themselves in the story of Zootopia with an all-new attraction called Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, where they will first be greeted by Officer Clawhauser. Chief Bogo, other rookie police officers, Officer Judy Hopps, and Nick Wilde are there too, in this exciting adventure that takes guests “sliding across the ice of Tundratown to flying off the track onto the busy streets of Sahara Square” as they “enjoy thrilling turns, spins, slides, and drops in this family-friendly attraction on a mission to rescue Gazelle from her kidnapper, Bellwether.”

Disney invites guests to “Take a visit to Jumbeaux’s Café, which is adapted to welcome animals of all sizes! It has even made accommodations like a lower take-out window for smaller customers, fashioned directly into the façade’s original elephant-sized door. Sink your teeth into a paw-shaped popsicle inspired by the ones made by Nick Wilde in the film!”

In 2019, Disney announced that it was building the City of Zootopia in its Shanghai Disneyland Resort. The new land was originally scheduled to open in 2022, but, of course, things fell behind when the COVID-19 pandemic swept through the world like wildfire in 2020.
On Tuesday morning, Disney Parks announced that the long-awaited Zootopia Land will finally open its gates to mammals big and small on December 20, 2023, just in time for the Christmas holidays, the kick-off for which begins in early December 2023.
