Disney, in a $4 billion deal, purchased the rights to Marvel in 2009. The new deal allowed The Walt Disney Company to work with some of the popular superheroes that iconic creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby ever created. Although some famed comic book names like Spider-Man were not part of the deal, Marvel Studios has seen towering success since its Disney acquisition, at least, until She-Hulk: Attorney at Law hit Disney+ in 2022.
Coming off of a hot hand that saw Avenger End Game (2019) go toe-to-toe with Avatar for the crown of top-grossing film of all time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, found itself in a sort of limbo. Although Kevin Feige and other minds behind some of the greatest superhero film stories ever created knew they’d keep some of the more popular characters around, like Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), their introduction of newer characters, including a Hulk attorney, was a gamble. One, it appears Marvel Studios lost.
‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’
Introduced via Disney+ in a mini-series in 2022, She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), also known as Jennifer Walters, is not just a green-skinned powerhouse but also an accomplished attorney at law. Combining her superhuman abilities with her legal expertise, She-Hulk stands out as a unique and multifaceted character.

In the Marvel Universe, She-Hulk stands out for her incredible strength and remarkable legal prowess. Known for her dual identity as Jennifer Walters, a skilled attorney, and her green, superhuman alter-ego, She-Hulk takes on cases both in and out of the courtroom with unparalleled determination and power.
As an attorney, Jennifer Walters navigates the complex legal landscape with finesse, representing clients from all walks of life. Her ability to think on her feet, coupled with her vast knowledge of the law, makes her a formidable force in the legal world. Whether she’s fighting for justice for the innocent or defending the rights of super-powered beings, She-Hulk approaches each case with unwavering dedication.
But what sets She-Hulk apart is her unique ability to blend her legal expertise with her superhuman abilities seamlessly. When the situation calls for it, she can effortlessly transition into her green form, tapping into immense strength and durability to overcome any obstacle in her path. This dual identity showcases her versatility and highlights the depth of her character.
Throughout her comic book history, She-Hulk has tackled many cases, from mundane legal disputes to high-stakes battles involving supervillains and heroes alike. Her sharp wit, indomitable spirit, and unwavering commitment to justice have made her a fan-favorite character among comic book readers and Marvel enthusiasts.

In the series She-Hulk on Disney Plus, Tatiana Maslany steps into the role of Jennifer Walters, bringing this iconic character to life on-screen. With Marvel Studios at the helm, fans were to expect the exploration of She-Hulk’s adventures both in the courtroom and beyond. Instead, they got twerking.
She-Hulk Misses the Mark
Although anyone who has read a She-Hulk comic will tell you that Marvel did a decent job of representing the character true to her original concept, the point was missed by casual MCU viewers, many of who were caught off guard by Walter’s sexcapades and fourth wall breaking.
Despite a couple of surprises, such as Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) returning as Abomination and including Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as Daredevil, fans struggled to see the long-term vision after finishing up the first She-Hulk season.
Although there were memorable moments, such as Benedict Wong reprising his popular MCU character alongside the hilarious Patty Guggenheim as Madisynn, the show felt out of place within the timeline of the MCU.
This isn’t anything new for the MCU since Iron Man made the ultimate sacrifice, as films, even those including more popular Marvel characters like Ms Marvel, have struggled to captivate Marvel fans in the same way the Avengers saga did.
Marvel Pulls the Plug on Season 2
For those who actually enjoyed Marvel’s new superhero, we’ve got some bad news to report. Although some out there enjoyed the antics of Jen Walters, according to She-Hulk herself, the series likely won’t move forward with a second season.

According to Gaming Bible, Tatiana Maslany might have confirmed the report that Disney and Marvel would not move forward with She-Hulk.
Speaking on a Twitch gameshow, Codenames Live, Tatiana Maslany, who played Jennifer Walters and her green alter ego, was asked “Should we hope for season two?” Maslany responded by saying “I don’t think so.” A disappointment for the fans who enjoyed the Disney+ show Maslany continued “I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘no thanks!’”
It isn’t surprising that any future plans to return the green lawyer to Disney+ have been scrapped. From questions surrounding the content to concerns over her CGI look, fans wanted to like She-Hulk, but something didn’t sit right, earning the show a 32% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Although it felt like giving a new character Hulk powers doesn’t seem like a bad idea, having them jokingly discuss the sex life of Captain America, twerk with Megan Thee Stallion, and romp around with Daredevil just didn’t work for the hardcore Marvel fan.
