On February 10, Disney fans around the Minneapolis area headed to the Target Center to enjoy an afternoon performance of Disney on Ice. Sadly, the afternoon went from exciting to scary when one of the skaters took an incredibly bad fall. The fall was so bad that the ice performer — who was playing Princess Belle — hit her head and began to have a seizure, while the audience could do nothing but watch in horror.
The Disney ice skater, identified as Anastasia Olson, was being lifted into the air, but the lift did not go as expected. The man playing the Beast/Prince dropped her, and she hit her head on the ice. Medical teams quickly attended to Ms. Olson, and she was rushed to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Thankfully, we have some very good news to share.
According to reports, Ms. Olson has been upgraded to “satisfactory condition” and is expected to make a full recovery. According to the Hennepin County Medical Center — where Olson is being treated — “satisfactory condition” is as good a condition as she could be in.
- Satisfactory – Excellent or good prognosis. Vital signs (pulse, temp, blood pressure) stable, within normal limits. Patient conscious; may be uncomfortable or experiencing minor complications. Indicators (such as mobility, appetite) excellent.

After Olson fell, the other skaters in the show kept performing, which some audience members said they appreciated. The performers continued skating and gave the children in the audience something else to focus on besides the injured Olson. One parent said that the ice skaters were able to “preserve the magic” for the younger viewers in the audience.
At this time, we do not know when Ms. Olson will be released from the hospital. We also do not know if she suffered from any life-altering injuries or when she will be able to return to the ice.
There are currently several Disney On Ice shows that are touring. This includes Disney On Ice: Frozen & Encanto, Magic In The Stars, Mickey’s Search Party, Into The Magic, and Find Your Hero. To see which show is coming to an arena near you, click here!
