Disney Now Refusing Additional Guests at Magic Kingdom, Effective Tonight
Getting shut out of Magic Kingdom is not something most Disney guests expect, especially when tickets cost nearly $200 per person. But that is exactly what is happening tonight at Walt Disney World.
Disney’s Magic Kingdom After Hours event for May 18 has officially sold out, meaning no additional guests can purchase tickets for the limited-capacity nighttime experience. Even visitors willing to pay full price are now out of luck.
The sellout also marks a growing trend Disney fans are starting to notice across 2026.

Disney After Hours Keeps Drawing Big Crowds
Over the last few years, Disney After Hours events have become one of the most popular premium offerings at Walt Disney World. While daytime park crowds continue fluctuating, many guests have started looking for ways to experience Magic Kingdom with shorter wait times and far less stress.
That is exactly what After Hours promises.
The separately ticketed event allows guests to enjoy Magic Kingdom from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. with reduced crowds, complimentary snacks and drinks, and access to major attractions with much lower waits than guests normally see during the day.
For many Disney fans, that alone makes the price worthwhile.
Tickets for the event currently range from $175 to $199 per person depending on the date. While that may sound steep, Disney has still seen select nights completely disappear from availability.
Tonight’s May 18 event became just the third Magic Kingdom After Hours event to sell out this season, following previously sold-out nights on January 12 and March 9.
Not every date has reached capacity, though, which makes these particular sellouts stand out even more.
Why Guests Are Paying More To Stay Later
Disney World vacations have become increasingly expensive across the board. Park tickets, resort stays, dining, and Lightning Lane purchases continue climbing in price, yet many guests appear more willing than ever to pay extra for convenience.
That shift is becoming especially noticeable at Magic Kingdom.
For some families, spending more money for shorter waits actually feels more valuable than saving money and spending the entire day navigating heavy crowds. After Hours events provide a version of Magic Kingdom that feels calmer, easier to manage, and far less chaotic.
Guests can often accomplish more in three hours during After Hours than they can during a packed afternoon inside the park.
That exclusivity is becoming a huge selling point.
Once Disney reaches capacity for these events, ticket sales stop completely. There are no same-day additions and no backup inventory waiting behind the scenes.
Tonight’s sellout proves that demand for those lower-crowd experiences remains extremely strong.

Big Changes at Magic Kingdom Could Be Fueling Interest
Magic Kingdom is also going through one of the largest transformation periods in its history, which may be helping drive additional interest in these special events.
The park continues changing rapidly following the removal of Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat. Construction tied to future projects like Villains Land and Piston Peak National Park continues moving forward behind the scenes.
At the same time, Walt Disney World is introducing major entertainment additions and attraction updates throughout 2026.
For some fans, After Hours may now represent one of the best ways to enjoy Magic Kingdom before the resort enters an even busier era later this decade.
Remaining Magic Kingdom After Hours Dates
While tonight’s event is officially full, several 2026 Magic Kingdom After Hours dates still remain available for now:
- May 25
- June 1
- June 22
- June 29
- July 13
- July 27
Whether those dates also sell out will likely depend on summer crowd demand and how many guests continue prioritizing premium low-crowd experiences at Walt Disney World.
One thing is becoming increasingly clear, though.
Disney does not need low prices to fill Magic Kingdom anymore. Sometimes, even a nearly $200 ticket still is not enough to guarantee a spot inside the park.
