Over the past couple of months, The Walt Disney Company has been incredibly outspoken in its support of its LGBTQ+ Cast Members and the LGBTQ+ community. That outspokenness has led to some major problems in the state of Florida, but Disney is not backing down. Disney has thousands of Cast Members who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community, and the company is working overtime to show how much they support them. It is not just Cast Members who work for Disney Parks, it is also those who work for Pixar, Marvel, LucasFilm, and more.
Every year, Disney celebrates the LGBTQ+ community with its release of new merchandise. In the past, that collection has been called the Rainbow Collection, but this year, they changed the name to the Pride Collection. This year’s Pride Collection is bigger and better than ever and Guests can purchase dozens of incredible Disney Pride items — from Mickey and Minnie plushes, pins, tee-shirts, backpacks, Minnie ears, and more. Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars items are also a part of the merchandise collection.
This year, Disney is going one step further with its Pride Collection. The company has shared that it will be donating 100% of the profits from the Pride Collection to organizations that support LGBTQ+ youth. The profits will be from all Pride items purchased between now and June 30, 2022. Disney shared the following message on its Disney Connect website:
The Disney Pride Collection was created by LGBTQIA+ employees and allies at The Walt Disney Company and is a reflection of their incredible contributions and place at the heart of the company. We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community everywhere.
The Walt Disney Company will be donating all of our profits from the Disney Pride Collection sales now through June 30, 2022 to organizations that support LGBTQIA+ youth and families. This includes sales of Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars Pride Collection merchandise.
The profits from Disney’s Pride collection will be going to the following organizations:
- Ali Forney Center
- LGBTQ Center OC
- Los Angeles LGBT Center
- PFLAG National
- SF LGBT Center
- The Trevor Project
- Zebra Coalition
- BeLonG To Youth Services
- diversity München e.V.
- Diversity Role Models
- Famiglie Arcobaleno
- MAG Jeunes LGBT+
- It Gets Better
- Nijiiro Diversity
You can learn more about each of the above organizations by clicking here or by visiting the Disney Connect website.
This is just the latest step Disney has taken to promote inclusion within the company. Last March, Disney updated its four keys — which are what Cast Members use to provide great service to Guests — to five. The original keys were Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency. Those keys are now Safety, Courtesy, Show, Efficiency, and Inclusion.
Disney’s Pride Collection is available in shops all over Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. There is also a fair amount of Pride merchandise available on the shopDisney website.
