Disney Imagineer Shares TRON Lightcycle Progress

TRON Lightcylce at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is coming along beautifully! We’ve been catching glimpses of the construction from time to time, with our latest post including aerial photos of Magic Kingdom’s future roller coaster. Now, Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley, has shared an update!

Zach Riddley, Walt Disney World Site Portfolio Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering took to Instagram to share the following update, including the two photos below:

“I’m excited to share these images of the very first canopy piece being installed at TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom this morning! This is one of nearly 40 pieces that will create a dramatic “curved wave” canopy, known as the Upload Conduit, which will flow organically over Guests as they race underneath on their Lightcycles. I’m proud of all the work our Imagineers have put into this @WaltDisneyWorld attraction so far, and the exciting work ahead to bring the Grid to life in Tomorrowland! Continue to follow us here for more progress. #Imagineering #MagicKingdom”

Disney’s initial deadline was to have the coaster ready to ride in 2021 – in time to celebrate Disney’s 50th Anniversary. With the pandemic hitting, construction halted back in March but the construction resumed shortly after. Disney has not announced if there will be a delay to the opening. What we do know is it’s fun to watch the progress of the coaster as it unfolds!

Want a sneak peek of what this attraction will look like? Here’s a ride through of the attraction in Shanghai Disneyland. Hold on tight!
