How could this happen?
Every year, millions of people from all over the world choose Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort as their ideal vacation destination. One of the reasons why fans love a Disney vacation is because of their acceptance of all guests. No matter who you are, there is a place for you to feel welcome at Disney theme parks.
Disney: A Home for Everyone
One of the things that makes Disney so accessible is their commitment to providing aid to guests who have mobility issues. Guests visiting the magical world of Disney who require assistance with mobility have a convenient option at their disposal to rent scooters while staying at the park. If you find yourself in need of extra assistance to fully experience the wonders of Disney, rest assured that scooter rentals are readily available to take you to any ride or attraction.
Being able to rent a scooter at the theme parks ensures that guests with mobility challenges can navigate the vast and captivating environments with ease. Disney understands the importance of inclusivity and strives to provide a seamless experience for every visitor. By offering Disney scooter rentals, they go above and beyond in their commitment to ensuring that everyone can enjoy the magic and wonder of the park.
The availability of scooter rentals at Disney provides a sense of freedom and independence for guests with limited mobility. With a mobility scooter at their disposal, they can explore the various attractions and immerse themselves in the enchanting atmosphere without any concerns about fatigue or physical discomfort. This accessibility option truly empowers individuals to embrace the joy and excitement of Disney at their own pace.
However, these mobility aids sometimes can be a liability for the other guests in the parks. In a recent report, a guest claimed that they were run over by a scooter.
Incident Reported at Disneyland
One Disney guest went to Reddit to share their story with the Disneyland community. According to the guest in question, they were enjoying a day at Disneyland Resort when things took a turn for the worst. The post reads;
“Hit by a mobility scooter in the park
Last week, a member of my party was hit by someone on a mobility scooter inside the park. The parks are crowded and everyone’s just doing their best to coexist but the scooter driver was aggressive and yelled at us for being in his way. The force of the hit knocked my friend to the ground. Thankfully, no one was injured but this didn’t feel like a simple accident as the scooter driver was following our party closely and as we tried to move forward to make room, he sped up.
I’m not here to debate whether this guy needs a mobility aid – that’s not my place. Lots of people use scooters for a variety of reasons, none of which are any of my business. What concerns me is the aggression. I don’t believe a CM saw this but should we have called attention to it? No one was hurt and we were just trying to leave the park so we didn’t raise a fuss.
Anyone else experience this?”
While it cannot be confirmed whether this story is true or not, it seems that numerous other commenters have reported similar occurrences with other scooter drivers. As with any vehicle, it is important to use safe driving practices when on the road. Any vehicle can become a weapon when not used with proper safety.
If you see someone driving a mobility scooter in a reckless manner at a theme park, the best thing to do is to inform a cast member or guest services immediately. Cast members are trained to handle any sort of situation, and they will be able to address the issue in a quick and responsible manner. As always, the Disney Park and Disney Resort community thrives when we look out for each other and continue to foster a safe and caring environment.
