A Disney Park Guest suffering from a serious medical condition called encephalitis had a seizure earlier this month during a trip to Disneyland Paris‘ Walt Disney Studios Park. While this could have been enough to end any theme park day, Evie Meg, despite her seizure at Disney, decided to still go on a ride.
Encephalitis is a medical condition characterized by inflammation of the brain. The inflammation can lead to various symptoms, including headache, fever, confusion, seizures, and changes in behavior or personality. In severe cases, encephalitis can cause permanent neurological damage or even be life-threatening. Treatment typically includes antiviral medication, supportive care, and management of symptoms.

The ride she chooses is the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, located in the park’s World of Pixar section and themed after the wildly popular Toy Story film franchise. The ride simulates the experience of being a toy soldier parachuting down from a tower, with Guests “free-falling” to the ground. Luckily, It offers a mild thrill experience without being overly intense.
Evie Meg posted the experience via TikTok, a social media app where she refers to herself as living a “life with an inflamed brain.”
In the video, just before the ride begins, Evie Meg is startled by a myoclonic jerk in her right leg, which is a sudden, involuntary muscle contraction or relaxation. In her video, she indicates that “this means there’s still seizure activity in her body. She’s holding her friend Harvey’s comforting hand and looks back at her mother, recording the video, clearly a bit nervous.

As the ride continues, Evie Meg ducks her head into Harvey’s arm, which at first is a bit worrisome. Luckily her companion is taking care of her. Harvey smiles reassuringly down at her mother on the ground, letting her know that Evie is not, in fact, having a seizure. The ride floats down to the ground again, and Harvey offers some tiny happy claps before the video ends.
Luckily, Evie Meg seems to have suffered no injury and is experienced enough to recognize the warning signs of a serious seizure situation.

Have you ridden the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop attraction at Walt Disney Studios Park? While Evie Meg knows herself and was able to push past her seizure at Disney, Disney Dining does not recommend doing the same without speaking to a healthcare professional first.
