Just a few days ago, Guests visiting Disney Springs thought they had experienced a truly magical moment. World of Disney was selling the highly-anticipated MagicBand+. Disney had not announced that the new MagicBands were going on sale, but maybe that was to prevent people from hoarding them. Sadly, it was quickly realized that it was all a big mistake. The MagicBand+ had been released by mistake and they were quickly removed from the shelves and refunds were issued.
However, we are now learning that Disney has confirmed that its MagicBand+ will be released this summer. We are also getting a first look at just how the MagicBand+ will interact with not only the nighttime shows, Disney Enchantment and Harmonious, but also the Fab 50 states that can be found in the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.
Spectrum News 13 reporter Ashley Carter was at a special presentation where she was able to test out the MagicBand+. She shared videos of her experience on her Twitter account.
Getting a chance to try out the new MagicBand+, which launches at Disney World this summer. The device has all the same functions as MagicBand but the new version lights up and also interacts with the Fab 50 statues around the parks.

While it is exciting to see the new MagicBands in use, many were expecting them to be released much earlier. Disney announced the new MagicBand+ months ago and talked about all of the great things the band will be able to do for the 50th. However, Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary celebration will only run through March 2023.
MagicBand+ will interact with the Fab 50 statues and the nighttime shows, but those were only brought in for the 50th. Disney has not confirmed that either Disney Enchantment or Harmonious will remain once the 50th ends. It is also possible that Disney could keep the Fab 50 statues in the Parks, but they have not confirmed that either.
Disney has said that its MagicBand+ will also allow people to act as bounty hunters while they are in Black Spire Outpost at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. However, if Guests are planning on purchasing the MagicBand+ to use in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary, then they may have a very limited time in which to use it. Disney has not shared if the MagicBand+ will interact with any additional things in the theme parks once the 50th is over.
Will you be purchasing Disney’s new MagicBand+?
