Disney Genie+ Price Reaches Shocking All-Time High

In December 2021, Disney launched its new FastPass replacement — Disney Genie+ — at Disneyland Resort. Genie+ at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park would cost Guests $20 — more than the $15 charge at Disney World’s four theme parks — but came with PhotoPass.

Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World Resort was an immediate hit. Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that more than 50% of Guests were purchasing it. However, it took a little longer to take off at Disneyland — mainly due to the high number of Magic Key Holders that didn’t feel the need to purchase it.

Recently, Disney announced that Disney Genie+ would be moving to a flex-pricing system. At both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, the price for Genie+ would vary based on the time of year and even the day of the week.

Flex-pricing went into effect immediately, and prices have steadily been climbing. Now, Disney Genie+ has reached a shocking all-time high. Guests visiting Disneyland Resort on October 22 saw that if they wanted to purchase Disney Genie+, they would need to shell out $30 per person.

Here is more on Disney Genie+ at Disneyland from the Disneyland Resort website:

In addition to getting all of the great features that come with the complimentary Disney Genie service, purchasing Disney Genie+ service offers even more convenience and flexibility, starting at $25.00 USD per ticket per day. Prices vary by date.

Disney Genie+ service is available for purchase as an add-on with new ticket or vacation packages before your visit, or as a single-day purchase for existing ticket holders through the Disneyland app on the day of your park visit after park entry.

Since its launch last fall, Disney Genie+ has been a controversial system. Guests love the free FastPass system that was in place for years. Disney is also frequently accused of out-pricing the average family, and the increased cost of Genie+ — which only promises to get Guests on 2-3 rides per day — is just one more way Disney is getting more and more expensive.

Disney has not said how high they will allow Disney Genie+ pricing to get. It is possible Disneyland will charge more than $30 per person during the holiday season when crowds are at their peak.
