Tokyo Disney Resort continues to attract massive crowds, with die-hard fans enduring freezing temperatures to secure prime spots for the park’s latest events. Viral videos showcasing long queues outside Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have become a staple, particularly during major openings or limited-time experiences.
This dedication was evident in 2024 when Fantasy Springs debuted at Tokyo DisneySea, drawing visitors as early as 2 a.m. eager to obtain access through limited Standby Passes, Premier Access, or Fantasy Springs Passports. Now, the frenzy has returned for Tokyo Disneyland’s new event, Disney Pal-Palooza: Vanellope’s Sweet Pop World.
Camping in Subfreezing Temperatures
According to Yahoo Japan, fans began gathering outside JR Maihama Station, near Tokyo Disney Resort, as early as 1.30 a.m. on January 15.
Many came prepared with sleeping bags, determined to witness the debut of Vanellope’s Sweet Pop World parade. However, the temperatures dropped to a bone-chilling 34 degrees Fahrenheit in the early hours of this morning and 32.5 degrees Fahrenheit last night, raising concerns over the health risks of such prolonged exposure.

Dr. Hiromichi Ito, director of the Ito Oji Kamiya Internal Medicine and Surgery Clinic, issued a warning via Yahoo Japan about the dangers of hypothermia. “When your body temperature drops below 35 degrees, you run the risk of hypothermia. The more exposed parts of your body, such as your face, the more heat you lose. In the worst case scenario, if your blood pressure drops, you could go into cardiac arrest,” Ito told Yahoo Japan.
The Sweet Appeal of Vanellope’s World
Vanellope’s Sweet Pop World, part of Tokyo Disneyland’s ongoing Disney Pal-Palooza series, runs from January 15 to March 16, 2025. Drawing inspiration from Wreck-It Ralph (2012), the event transforms the park into a vibrant candy-themed wonderland. Visitors can expect themed decorations, exclusive treats, and merchandise.
The highlight of the event is a colorful six-float parade featuring Vanellope, Mickey, and Minnie dressed in sweets-inspired costumes, with show stops that promise plenty of photo opportunities. Guests staying at the Disney Ambassador Hotel can extend the experience with themed rooms dedicated to the event.
