Disney Dining Plan
If you plan on staying at a Walt Disney Resort hotel you probably know a little but about the Magic Your Way packages. Simply put, they are a way to bundle your room and your tickets to save you money. Another service that is offered to resort guests is the Disney Dining Plan. It is an addition to Magic Your Way and means that meals and tickets are included in the overall package. You will not have to worry about how much you will spend on food in the parks, it is already paid for. The prices change often so keep checking for the best deal possible. During the non-peak seasons the Disney Dining Plan is sometimes included in select Magic Your Way packages at no extra price, offering one more incentive to stay on property.
The plan is easy to use. It is added on to your room key for each member of your party. When you pay for your meal, hand your key card to the cashier or the waitress. One swipe is all that it takes. You will then be handed a receipt that will tell you what is left on your plan.
Things become a bit more complicated when you try to decide which plan you and your party should sign up for. Like most everything else at Disney, there are several options and they are all subject to change at any time.

The least expensive of the Disney Dining Plan options is the Magic You Way Package Plus Quick-Service Dining Plan. This allows each member of your party the equivalent of two quick service meals plus one snack per day. There are quick service restaurants located in all four parks and also in the hotels so plenty of choices are available.
If you choose breakfast for one of your meals you will receive a combo meal or an entrée. Lunch or dinner is also a combo or an entrée, plus a dessert. A non-alcoholic beverage is included with each meal. If there are children ages 3-9 in your party they will be required to order off of the children’s menu when there is one.
Some of the snacks that are included in the plan are popcorn, novelty ice cream or a whole piece of fruit. Bottled water or soda are also considered a snack. You will also receive one refillable mug per person in your party for the length of your stay. That can be filled for no extra cost at the quick service option at your hotel throughout your day, but if you fill it elsewhere it will cost extra.
Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining has many of the same benefits as the Quick-Service package. You will still receive the refillable mugs for your whole party. There is one snack allowed per day. There are two meals, one is quick service, just like in the other plan. The second meal is for either a table service restaurant or an all you can eat buffet. Reservations are recommended for the table service meal.
The third Walt Disney World Dining Plan option is the same for the Magic Your Way Package Deluxe Plus Dining, Premium and Platinum Packages. (The Disney Dining Plan is automatically included with Premium or Platinum.) The basics from the other packages are there, but they have expanded. You will be allowed two snacks a day on this plan. Also included are three meals a day at either full service, quick service or a buffet restaurant. An appetizer is added to lunch and dinner. You can also trade meals for certain dining experiences with this option. You can trade one meal for most character dining experiences. Cinderella’s Royal Table will cost you two meals, as will the dinner shows or a signature dining experience. Other trades are also possible.
If you are an annual pass holder do not despair. The dining packages are available to you as well. They may not be as good a deal because they are not usually discounted for annual pass holders, but for some people they are worth it for the convenience.
Remember that the Walt Disney World Dining plans are currently only available to guests who are staying on property. The plans are for the length of your stay, you cannot pick and choose certain days that you would like dining, but you can save meals for later the during the same stay or use them early. You cannot keep any for your next trip, they expire at midnight on the day that you checkout. One last thing to remember, the meals and snacks on your plan are only for you and those who are staying with you. They are not transferable.
