Disney Dining Be Our Guest FastPass Lunch Experience

Disney Dining Be Our Guest FastPass Lunch Experience

On our recent visit to Walt Disney World we were able to take advantage of the FastPass service at Be Our Guest restaurant for lunch service.  These FastPasses are currently in a test mode and are sent to you as an email invitation by Disney–I haven’t seen a pattern as to who receives the invites.  This FastPass does not currently count toward your FastPass+ allottment of three per person per day.

When you go online to schedule your FastPass through the email link you have two options:  just scheduling a time window to arrive and bypass the standby line, or ordering your entire meal ahead of time.  I chose to just schedule a window to arrive since I didn’t really feel like ordering food weeks in advance.  You do not get any kind of confirmation number, an email confirmation or a note about your Be Our Guest FastPass in your My Disney Experience account.  I recommend printing out the final page that states you are done just to be safe and to keep your time handy.  We had a choice of an earlier or later lunch time when I made our FastPass arrangement, and I believe we had a 20 minute window to check in.  I chose the earlier time.

We arrived at the check-in area to the left of the bridge to the Beast’s castle at the appropriate time and checked in with one of the cast members there with an iPad.  She had some trouble and it took a while to check in because the iPad was not functioning properly or quickly.  I’m happy to report that was the only glitch in the process, however.

We were soon on our way across the bridge bypassing all of the people in the line (and it extended well beyond the bridge and wrapped around to the right).  As we approached the castle we checked in with another cast member who let us inside and we joined the line on the lefthand side of the room with the knights.  The next cast member stopped us before entering the library room to order and here it became like a FastPass line at an attraction–he would let a couple of FastPass families in to a kiosk to order, and a family from the standby line.  They do ask how you will be paying for your meal since some kiosks are not set up to take payments other than Magic Bands or RFID enabled Key To The World cards.

From here the experience was just like any other visiting Be Our Guest for lunch.  We placed our order at the kiosk and paid with our Magic Band.  When we found our table in the ballroom we had to place our Magic Band in the center, and before we knew it the cart arrived with our food.  We enjoyed our sandwiches and Master’s Cupcake (with the grey stuff–its delicious) all the more for having bypassed standing in line.

About Sarah Chapman

I am a long time Disney fan since I was hooked on Walt Disney World with my first trip in 1987. Since that time I’ve tried experiencing everything I can in the parks, with a total of 30 visits and counting (I’m always planning my next trip) to Walt Disney World—not to mention Disney Cruise Line and even (shhh!) Universal Orlando and Sea World. I’ve turned my Disney obsession into a profession helping others plan their magical vacations as a Dream Vacation Maker at LBAC Travel. I am a work at home mom to three wonderful boys, and each one has been properly indoctrinated with all things Disney. Walt Disney World is definitely our “Laughing Place.” Look for me on Facebook at Facebook.com/SarahLBAC for updates, discount announcements, tips, tricks and planning advice for your next vacation.
