Disney Dining Blog: The Epcot Food & Wine Festival for Non-Drinkers

One thing that I have heard from several people lately is that they do not have any interest in attending the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival because they do not drink alcohol. I tell them that if they do not go, they are missing out. I don’t drink and I am also a vegetarian, you might think that there would be nothing for me at the festival. You would be wrong, I go every year, and always have a great time.

The Food & Wine Festival is about more than just drinking. Sure, there are beers and wines that are not normally offered in the park, and there is alcohol everywhere in World Showcase. Anyone who is of age who wants to taste will have a great time with that part of the festival, but there are also plenty of other things to do. I’ll skip the Mixology Seminar but might attend a Culinary Demonstration instead. I’ll ignore the wine pairings on the menus and look for the “V” (for vegetarian) instead. This year there have also been some great artists performing at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. If my family and I stayed away because we don’t drink we’d really be missing out.

Of course non-drinkers will not legitimately receive all of the stamps in their Discovery Passports, but that is the only downside that I can think of. If you don’t drink or aren’t much of a drinker don’t let that keep you away from Epcot. You’ll be missing out.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
