Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company, participated in a virtual question-and-answer session at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference on Monday, May 24, 2021. One of the theme park points Chapek gave a little more insight on was what we can expect with park capacity.
Bob Chapek shared there is a strong demand recover for the Disney theme parks. The intent to visit is comparable to 2019 at Walt Disney World which is a good sign of what’s to come. The Walt Disney Company continues to invest in the parks. When Chapek was asked what should we look to as indicators to raising capacity, he said Disney is looking to normalize operations as soon as possible, when it is practical and done in a responsible way. Chapek said he expects a “low double digits increases in the next several months in terms of attendance”. He expects to see changes in COVID-19 policies near the end of the fourth fiscal quarter.
