Disney Announces Hulu Streaming Service Will Go Dark in June
Hulu subscribers were recently notified via email about an important change to the streaming service. On Thursday, the Walt Disney Company-owned streamer announced that one of the service’s most popular live channels will cease operations next month. The Vevo Features Channel, which streams music videos celebrating various cultural events and holidays, will be unavailable starting June 26, 2025.
Hulu has long been a go-to platform for popular shows like The Bear, Bob’s Burgers, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Kardashians, but it also offers a range of live streaming channels that mimic traditional cable TV. The Vevo Features Channel, known for its variety of music videos, is a fan favorite among live TV subscribers. However, Hulu informed subscribers this week that it no longer holds the rights to distribute the content streamed on the channel, meaning it will no longer be available as part of the platform’s live TV package.
In an email sent to subscribers, Hulu said The Vevo Features Channel will no longer be available to Live TV subscribers as of June 26, 2025. It will continue to operate normally until that date. All other Vevo content and Hulu channels remain unaffected, including nearly 100 other Live TV channels.
The Walt Disney Company officially acquired control of Hulu in 2019 as part of the 21st Century Fox merger. Disney later purchased the remaining shares from AT&T and Comcast, giving the company full ownership of the popular streamer.
Disney+ is now available to bundle with Hulu, ESPN+, and Max (which will soon transition into HBO Max). In December 2023, Disney+ introduced a new content hub, allowing subscribers to access Hulu content, including FX and Bravo, without switching apps. The company also implemented a passcode feature to help lock profiles with adult content to maintain its family-friendly reputation.
