Disney Adults Need November 17 in Their Planners as Company Prepares Statements

If you’ve been watching your Disney vacation budget lately, you’ve probably noticed the totals creeping upward. From Lightning Lane purchases to park tickets and resort stays, the cost of a Disney trip keeps rising, and an upcoming date on the company’s calendar may offer clues about whether that trend will continue.

Lightning Lane Prices Hit New Highs

Let’s start with what’s already been confirmed. Walt Disney World has announced record pricing for Lightning Lane Single Pass beginning November 1. At Magic Kingdom, that includes TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Over at EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has new pricing, and at Animal Kingdom, Avatar: Flight of Passage does as well.

Then there’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass, the top-tier option, which can run up to $449 per person, per day at Magic Kingdom. Given the current trajectory, that figure could approach $500 per person before the decade wraps up. Magic Kingdom also has at least four new attractions on the way as part of Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land, and more headliners could mean more demand, and higher prices, for skip-the-line access.

Why Guests Keep Paying

This isn’t happening in a vacuum. Pricing has been a recurring concern since the parks reopened after the COVID-19 shutdowns, with admission, lodging, dining, drinks, souvenirs, and add-ons all adding up quickly at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Last week brought another round of price increases, prompting plenty of discussion among Disney Adults.

Still, the data shows demand hasn’t slowed much. In the fiscal third quarter, Disney Experiences brought in record revenue of almost $10 billion, up 10% year-over-year. Domestic attendance saw a small bump, but the bigger driver was per-capita spending. Attendance stayed relatively soft, yet the guests who did visit spent more than before.

What to Watch on November 17

On November 17, The Walt Disney Company will host its earnings webcast covering the fiscal fourth quarter, along with a look back at the full year. CEO Josh D’Amaro, who previously led Disney Experiences, and CFO Hugh Johnston are expected to present.

Since D’Amaro took over, the company has kept a close eye on its park offerings and their price points. Disney is in an expansion phase worldwide, with new lands and attractions in progress and an entirely new resort, Disneyland Abu Dhabi, planned for the United Arab Emirates. That growth builds on a century of storytelling, beloved films, and parks that welcome millions of visitors each year.

The call could shed light on spending trends and hint at what’s ahead for park vacations. For planners, it’s worth tuning in, because any new announcements may affect what your next trip costs.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
