EPCOT’s World Showcase is bursting with amazing dining options for Guests to enjoy at the Walt Disney World Resort with unique locations that offer up international cuisine in an array of immersive settings. The Japan Pavilion in particular whisks Guests into the beauty, history, and serenity of the country and offers up several dining options that serve traditional Japanese cuisine.

Teppan Edo is a very popular table service restaurant in the Japan Pavilion that can be found on the second level of the Mitsukoshi Department Store next to Tokyo Dining. Open daily for lunch and dinner, Teppen Edo invites Guests to dine on traditional Japanese cuisine in a unique and interactive setting.

The dining experience at Teppan Edo begins when Guests ascend a dramatic outdoor staircase that leads to the second level of the Mitsukoshi Department Store. At the top is the main entrance to both Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining, and before entering Guests should take a moment to explore the balcony area and soak in stunning views of World Showcase Lagoon and Spaceship Earth.

Once inside, Guests can find a check in area and a large waiting room with sleek black furniture and artwork. This area can sometimes be busy as it serves as a waiting spot for both Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining, but the serene and traditional Japanese artwork and atmosphere can absolutely be felt before even entering into the dining room.

The interior of Teppan Edo features a long central hallway with doorways that lead into the smaller dining spaces, and each dining room features traditional Japanese artwork and architecture as well as a calming color scheme of soft whites, dark wood, and bright pops of red. The focal point of each dining room are the teppan-yaki tables which feature a large cooktop that Guests are seated around.

Teppan-yaki style coking involves much of the meal being prepared on stage right in front of Guests, and the chefs at Teppan Edo are friendly and fun as they put on special shows for Guests that include everything from creating a Mickey out of vegetables or the famous onion volcano. It’s definitely an engaging and fun experience to be able to watch the food prepared right at the table.

One thing to note about Teppan Edo is that each dining table seats eight Guests and parties will be seated communally. While this might not be for every Guest, it is important to note that each seat faces towards the grill, so it is easy to keep the majority of interaction with the chef instead of other parties of Guests if desired.

The menu at Teppan Edo focuses on traditional Japanese cuisine with a combination of items that are prepared on stage as well as backstage in the main kitchen. The lunch and dinner menus are identical and feature a range of options that ensure that every Guest will have something delicious to enjoy.

Tokyo Sunset

Before ordering any food, Guests should absolutely take the time to check out the beverage menu at Teppan Edo as it features a variety of soft drinks as well as unique alcoholic options that can only be found in the Japan Pavilion in EPCOT. Guests can enjoy unique sake selections, imported Japanese beer and whiskey, and specialty cocktails like the Tokyo Sunset, Japanese Breeze, Violet Silk Martini, and Momo Whiskey Sour.

The menu at Teppn Edo features a limited selection of appetizers that range from light and refreshing to warm and comforting. The Edamame are served chilled, the Miso Soup is piping hot and served with wakame, tofu, and green onions, and the Spicy Calamari is grilled and tossed with a garlic chili sauce.

Teppan Edo is also one of the best locations at the Walt Disney World Resort for fresh sushi selections, and Guests can enjoy classic options like the Volcano Roll, California Roll, and Spicy Roll. Those looking to further indulge can order the Sushi Sampler which features several pieces of each roll or the Sashimi Sampler which serves two pieces of tuna, two pieces of salmon, and two pieces of yellowtail.

Onion Mickey

The entrée options and their accompaniments are what are prepared at the table in Teppan Edo, and each menu item is served with a garden salad, udon noodles, vegetables, and steamed white rice. The vegetables are definitely one of the best parts of the teppan-yaki cooking as the chefs use impressive skills and charm to slice them up and prepare them in entertaining ways that get the whole table involved.

In addition to the accompaniments, entrée options at Teppan Edo include Filet Mignon, NY Cut Steak, and Julienne Steak for red meat options and Tori which is chicken breast. Seafood lovers can choose between the Ebi which serves ten grilled shrimp or the Hotate which features cold water ocean scallops. A vegetarian option is also available with the Yasai which perfectly prepares seasonal vegetables, mushrooms, and tofu.

Asakusa

Guests who can’t decide which entrée option to choose for lunch or dinner at Teppan Edo also have several combination selections that allow them to sample more than one type of protein. The Asakusa pairs steak and shrimp, Nihonbashi features steak and chicken, and Ueno combines chicken and shrimp.

Guests who are looking to truly indulge at Teppan Edo can also add an enhancement to any entrée meal including Mixed Mushrooms, four to six ounce lobster tail. Ebi (grilled shrimp), or Hotate (sea scallop). By far the most indulgent enhancement offered is the four ounce Japanese Wagyu Strip which costs a whopping ninety dollars, but is absolutely delicious.

Matcha Tiramisu

The traditional Japanese flavors and ingredients continue with dessert at Teppan Edo where Guests can enjoy soft serve ice cream in unique flavors like Green Tea or Vanilla Green Tea Swirl, a Chocolate Ginger Cake, Mango Mousse Cake, and Matcha Tiramisu. Guests who are looking to truly enjoy a unique dessert option can dig into the Yuzu Mousse Cake which is topped with kinako crumb, gold flakes, matcha cream, chocolate rocks, and a sparkling yuzu sauce.
