Dine Like a Noble at Earl Of Sandwich

Credit: Disney

From quick-service eats and desserts to table service dining experiences and immersive dining — Disney Springs is the place to be. Mouthwatering Polite Pig barbecue, unique dishes at Morimoto Asia, and delectable desserts at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain, are some of my favorite foods to enjoy at Disney Springs. If you are looking to taste international cuisine (Frontera Cocina), enjoy a new-to-you cocktail (Wine Bar George), indulge in dessert (Gideon’s Bakehouse), or enjoy an immersive dining experience (Rainforest Café and T-Rex Café) you are in the right place!

When I mention dining at Disney Springs, you may immediately think of staple restaurants like Rainforest Café or newer additions like Raglan Road or The Boathouse. True, Disney Springs delivers big time in the table service dining department, but today we are going back to a classic quick-service option you may have forgotten. The Marketplace at Disney Springs is home to Earl Of Sandwich.

Earl Of Sandwich is located near the Disney Marketplace Carousel and Disney’s Days of Christmas shop. This gourmet sandwich shop has quite a story, as it was a hit long before it arrived at Disney Springs. In fact, this family-owned business actually invented the sandwich. That’s right, back in 1762 the 4th Earl Of Sandwich, John Montagu created the sandwich out of necessity. One day, Montagu needed a way to have an easy meal without stopping an ongoing card game. As company legend tells it, Montagu requested roast beef placed between two slices of bread be served to him so that he could eat quickly and easily. The rest is history!

Around 250 years later, the tradition continued as the founding family of this humble but delicious meal launched the Earl Of Sandwich Restaurant. This restaurant takes pride in serving sandwiches built from the best quality ingredients. Premium meats, artisanal cheeses, fresh bread and produce in peak flavor are what you can expect from this menu.

I think most Disney fanatics would agree that a sandwich is quintessential quick-service food. You can easily and quickly order and enjoy a sandwich on the go if you are hopping from shop to shop at Disney Springs. Or you can take time to relax at one of the tables at Earl Of Sandwich. This restaurant seats 220 people in a mix of spacious indoor seats and at an alfresco dining setup directly outside the shop.

The menu at this eatery is one of my favorites because they make an old dish feel new again. With a menu full of hot sandwiches expertly built with custom spreads and sauces, you might just want to try the whole menu. This is an affordably priced dining option, coming in at around $14.99 and under per adult. This spot is open all day, so you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Earl Of Sandwich.

Visiting for breakfast is still on my to-do list, so we will stick to lunch and dinner recommendations, and boy do we have some great ones! The menu is divided into hot sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and sides. If you want to start with the original sandwich, you should order The Original 1762. Inspired by the card game that made history, this sandwich is a classic made of roast beef, cheddar, and horseradish sauce on fresh bread.

Want to enjoy a literal taste of the holidays all year long? Order the Holiday Turkey. This sandwich is made with turkey, cornbread stuffing, turkey gravy, mayonnaise, and cranberry sauce. Any Thanksgiving dinner fan will fall head over heels for this sandwich. The Chipotle Chicken Avocado Sandwich is another popular option, built with juicy grilled chicken, ripe avocado, crispy bacon, cheddar, lettuce, and a creamy Chipotle sauce.

The Full Montagu, a roast beef sandwich with turkey, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, Roma tomato, bacon, and Earl’s Mustard sauce is another popular option as is the Caprese Sandwich. All these sandwiches come in at only $8.99 each. You can make any sandwich as a combo meal for an additional $3.99. A combo includes a regular-sized fountain drink and one side with the purchase of any sandwich, salad, or wrap. Combos allow Guests to choose from sides like potato wedges, chips, a cup of soup, a cookie, or a side salad. If choosing just one side is too tough, why not upgrade to a premium combo for $5.49 extra? Premium combos come with a large fountain drink and 2 sides.

Ready to talk wraps? There are 5 options to choose from with flavors ranging from Earl’s Cobb Wrap and a Spicy Tuna Wrap to a Grilled Caesar Wrap. My wrap choice is the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. This delectable eat is built from grilled chicken, melty cheddar, romaine lettuce, Roma tomato, celery salt and drizzled with a spicy buffalo sauce and a blue cheese dressing. Another popular option is the Chicken Bacon Avocado Wrap. What could be better than grilled chicken, crispy bacon, and fresh avocado on a wrap with romaine, Roma tomato, cucumber, and balsamic vinaigrette?

Wraps also ring in at $8.99 and can be bundled into combos. If a salad is more your speed, choose from fresh choices like a Greek, Cobb, House, Caprese, or Chicken Caesar salad. My salad choice is definitely the Caprese Salad with crunchy romaine lettuce, Roma tomatoes, and diced mozzarella cheese with a basil and balsamic glaze. Tomato soup is a menu staple that pairs perfectly with a hot sandwich. You can buy soup by the cup or bowl based on your serving size preference.

Earl Of Sandwich sides are just as delicious as the main course. With options like potato salad, pasta salad, coleslaw, and bacon mac ‘n’ cheese, you will likely have a difficult time choosing what accompaniment to order for your meal. And remember to save room for dessert! Fresh-made cookies, cookie bites, brownies, and cookie-brownie hybrid “brookies” are on this menu.

Sure, this eatery opened in 2004, but it’s still serving up show-stopping bites today, and you need to check it out on your next Disney vacation. Earl Of Sandwich proves that classic menu options done well can create memorable meals at a great price for Disney Guests.

About Katie Chapman

Hey There! I am a Georgia native with a passion for writing, traveling, cooking, decorating, pugs and of course all things Disney. Growing up in South Georgia just a few hours from Walt Disney World made for a magical childhood. Some of my best memories were made on Main Street U.S.A. with my sister watching SpectroMagic nighttime parade or beside my grandparents, parents and extended family at Chef Mickey’s celebrating on a family vacation. Epcot was my favorite park from a young age and I credit it with my interest in and love for international travel. As a kid I loved meeting characters and watching films around World Showcase and could spend hours exploring each of the countries in Epcot. These days, my husband and I get away to explore a new country whenever we can and even incorporate trips to The Disney Store and Disney Parks around the world in our travels. One of our travel goals is to visit every Disney Park in the world. I love writing about Disney restaurants, park tips, Disney outfit inspiration and Disney history. Pocahontas is my favorite Disney Princess (90s kid here!) but Mr. Toad is my spirit animal. When I’m not at Disney I’m reading about park history, watching Disney documentaries and shopping vintage Disney merch for park outfits. I never pass up a reservation to Ohana, an empty seat on Living with the Land or a Violet Sake.
