Guests Notice Burn Damage on TRON Lightcycle / Run at Disney World

Something has been quietly degrading in the TRON Lightcycle / Run queue at Magic Kingdom Park, and guests paying close attention to the pre-show screens are now unable to keep from noticing it.

What’s Wrong With the Screens

WDWNT reported on July 6 that most of the monitors lining the TRON Lightcycle / Run queue have developed a permanent burned-in image of a Lightcycle that now appears across every piece of content the screens display. The outlet shared a photo capturing the issue in action — the ghostly white outline of the bicycle-shaped ride vehicle is clearly visible overlaid on a completely different scene in the pre-show sequence.

The screens in question play an important role in the queue experience, cycling through safety warnings, locker instructions, and boarding demonstrations for first-time riders. All of that content is still running normally, just with an uninvited Lightcycle silhouette permanently etched over the top of it.

A futuristic, glowing blue roller coaster with multiple connected cars zooms along a curved track. The background is a blur of cyan lights and geometric shapes, suggesting high speed and motion. This image captures a dynamic, high-tech atmosphere reminiscent of a thrilling ride accessed through Disney's virtual queue system.

The technical explanation is screen burn-in, a phenomenon that occurs when a static image is displayed repeatedly on a monitor for a long period, causing certain pixels to degrade faster than the rest of the screen. The bright white Lightcycle image — a recurring static element in the queue’s pre-show content — appears to have been intense enough to cause this degradation across most monitors.

Disney Hasn’t Responded

Walt Disney World Resort has not publicly acknowledged the damaged screens or indicated any plans to replace them. No refurbishment is currently scheduled for TRON Lightcycle / Run, and it’s unclear whether swapping out the affected monitors could be done without disrupting the attraction’s daily operations.

For now, guests riding TRON Lightcycle / Run will continue to see the pre-show content play out on screens that have permanently adopted the shape of the ride’s most recognizable image.
