One Week Later, Video Shows Second Disney Guest Jumping From Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

A video circulating online this week shows another guest exiting a Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride vehicle at Disneyland Park mid-attraction — just over a week after a 13-year-old boy fell more than 50 feet from the same ride and made national headlines.

The pattern begins in late June, when a 13-year-old boy exited his ride vehicle at the top of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s over 50-foot drop at Disneyland Park and fell down the waterfall. Video of the fall spread widely. The boy survived with only minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. OSHA investigated the attraction and cleared it to reopen.

Unfortunately, the incident didn’t serve as the deterrent many hoped it would.

Instagram user @adventuresbyprince was on the former Splash Mountain ride last week when the guests in the vehicle ahead of theirs decided to exit on the ascent leading up to the drop. The video they posted shows a woman attempting to climb out of the log to join a man who was already standing on a platform alongside the ride.

The Disneyland version of this ride doesn’t have lap restraints like its counterpart in Florida and riders sit in a single row. We were stuck for over 30 minutes after the party in front exited their ride vehicle! (Security was still searching after we got off but we still saw this family lining up to try to get complimentary Lightning Lanes afterward for the delay they caused)

A Disney cast member watching the security feed noticed the pair and addressed them directly over the loudspeaker: “Remain where you are.”

The woman sat back down. The man did not. He ducked into an emergency exit doorway and disappeared into a backstage area of the attraction.

Every guest on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was stuck in place for more than 30 minutes while Disney security searched backstage for the man who had vanished. When the ride finally finished, and guests made their way off the attraction, the family responsible for the disruption was spotted at the front of the line, requesting complimentary Lightning Lanes — citing the delay they had caused.
