The exterior refurbishment of the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Park is revealing its results piece by piece. Here’s the latest update from the Most Magical Place on Earth.

On Wednesday, WDWNT reported that the cupola — the rounded structure crowning the very top of the Haunted Mansion’s roofline — has received a new finish as part of the ongoing exterior refurbishment. Before construction scrim wrapped the Liberty Square attraction, the cupola matched the building’s familiar brown-beige exterior walls. What’s now visible in its place is a contrasting shiny dark metal with a green patina tint in the same hue as the Haunted Mansion’s roof before the refurbishment began.

Whether the roof itself will retain that green patina when the scaffolding and scrim eventually come down remains to be seen. The roof is still covered and not yet visible to Central Florida Disney Park guests.

The refurbishment focus appears to have shifted to the chimneys on the right side of the building, where scaffolding has now appeared.

Walt Disney World Resort has not issued a statement on the refurbishment or provided a timeline for its completion. The attraction itself remains open throughout construction and continues to welcome guests through its queue.

More Than Just a Cosmetic Refresh

The exterior refurbishment appears to be tied to broader changes underway around the Haunted Mansion, as construction on Piston Peak National Park reshapes Frontierland. A steel framework recently appeared on a nearby building that has long served as a queue extension for the attraction, suggesting that the structure is being expanded rather than just refreshed.

Disney appears to be extending the rear exterior facade of the Haunted Mansion as well. What was once a purely backstage portion of the attraction’s back side may become visible to Magic Kingdom Park guests once the new Cars (2006)-inspired Frontierland area opens and the surrounding landscape changes dramatically.
