Between Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT, it’s no secret that one Disney Park celebrates the beauty of other cultures more than the rest.
Walt Disney World’s EPCOT is home to four different neighborhoods, one of which is dedicated to celebrating other countries’ themes and cultures (World Showcase). As a whole, the Disney Park’s themes are working together to create a better world for all by appreciating nature, different cultures, and what’s to come in the future.

Knowing this, it makes sense that EPCOT is constantly celebrating different events, such as the ongoing EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. This year’s EPCOT International Festival of the Arts began on January 13th and will end on February 20th. As a part of this year’s Festival of the Arts, EPCOT is presenting the Disney on Broadway Concert Series.

A few times a day, actors and actresses who have starred in Disney Broadway adaptations perform classic Disney songs for the audience. However, one recent performance was more memorable than the rest.
Last night (January 24th), Broadway stars Mandy Gonzalez (Aida) and L. Steven Taylor (The Lion King) were performing together when Taylor announced to the audience, “Coco is now in development at Disney on Broadway to become a live stage show.” Then, Gonzalez sang “Remember Me,” the simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking song from Coco (2017).

Coco is a Disney Pixar film about a boy named Miguel who dreams of becoming a musician despite his family’s long-withstanding, generations-old prohibition of music. He finds himself accidentally transported into the Land of the Dead, where he attempts to prove his talent and passion for music.

Similarly to most Disney Broadway adaptations, we can expect to see moving new music added to the story! Currently, we don’t have any information about when or where this Broadway musical will debut, but Disney Dining will keep readers updated on the latest news regarding the situation.
