While everything continues to erupt in cost, many of us have been forced to consider the value of what we spend on money much closer, even at Walt Disney World.

Instead of casually walking around spending our money on whatever tickles our fancy, we must now decide if we’re getting the bang for our buck, especially considering that a lot of things at Disney, even their infamous Cinnamon Roll at Gaston’s Tavern, aren’t the same as they used to be.

Look, Disney, much like you and I, is suffering from inflated product costs as well. If your grocery bill has increased, so has Disney World’s. Therefore, it’s no surprise that some items have seen a surge in pricing.

Disney World Resort must adapt to stay financially relevant as the dollar continues to strengthen or weaken in value. This is why we can almost be sure there will be ticket price increases yearly.

One thing Walt Disney World faithful will certainly loudly complain about is price increases of any kind. When we see typical everyday items at parks like Magic Kingdom increase in price, some people lose their minds!

Although this is understandable, Disney’s only other option in a world where the dollar’s value is increasingly inflated is to offer less for the same price.

For this reason, we’ve noticed decreases in portion sizes all around Walt Disney World Resort, especially when it comes to snacks, and yes, the Cinnamon Roll at Gaston’s Tavern at Magic Kingdom is certainly one of many food items that have fallen victim to deflation at Walt Disney World.

Reddit user @waveball03 recently posted a comparison image of the famous warm cinnamon roll recipe at Gaston’s Tavern.

Although historically oversized and shareable, making it a great choice to use as a snack credit with the Disney Dining Plan, it would seem that the cinnamon roll has been decreasing in size over the years.

From 2017 to 2024, this comparison on Reddit shows definitely smaller offerings than what the Magic Kingdom establishment, tucked away in New Fantasy Land, offered pre-COVID.

The cinnamon roll became quite popular due to its location, Gaston’s Tavern, outside of which guests used to be able to meet Gaston from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991). Although you’ll find other options, such as the Grey Stuff Cupcake and LeFou’s Brew, complete with signature stein, the cinnamon roll was the popular offering, primarily due to its size.

Guests would proudly take selfies in front of the famous fountain, which depicts Gaston bravely pouring cups of ale while standing atop a struggling LeFou alongside this famous cinnamon roll.

But now, at least according to this post, it seems like the once popular mountain-sized offering may be falling a little flat. The famous pastry is still a bargain, coming in at just under $7, but it doesn’t seem as shareable as it once did.

  1. At Gaston’s right now. I love the cinnamon roll. Last visit was in December. The roll today is literally half the size in December, 2 1/2 months ago. The roll is “gooier” than before and seems to a new flavor with the cinnamon. Still very good but not nearly as shareable as before.

  2. First we make it Bigger, Bigger, Bigger……..than we make it smaller, smaller, smaller, but still charge you the same price. Thank You Joe Biden and Company!!

  3. Make NO MISTAKE SHRINKFLATION IS REAL

DISNEY’s SHRINKFLATION and PRICE increases are by
DESIGN. Disney own Senior Executives have stated they will keep raising prices because people will still come .
Cast Members wages are at the minimum and Executives
Are paid very Lucrative . Several of them have a multi million dollar salary cast members struggling just for rent .
Bottom line Executives raise prices to pad their pockets.
