Cast Members at the Disneyland Resort in California got just what the doctor ordered for the holiday blues when a local non-profit organization, Pet Prescription Team, visited the resort to bring warmth and smiles to Cast Members who might be feeling the stress and pressure of the holiday season.
The Pet Prescription Team focuses on enhances the quality of life for individuals by creating bonds between them and animals who make up the team.
In all, there were seven canine companions who arrived on the scene to interact with Cast Members, to snuggle and to just be together. (There’s literally something so calming about dogs, don’t you think?)
“I love it; the dogs are very calming,” said Cast Member cashier Nikki Valencia. Valencia was one of the many Cast Members who took a break from the busy holiday season inside the parks at the Disneyland Resort. She is one of thousands of Cast Members who bring magic to Guests at the Resort, but when the seven precious pooches arrived, the magic was there for the Cast Members themselves.
The event was provided by Disney’s Be Well Program, and we love that the prescription for holiday stress here is friendly conversation with fellow Cast Members, lots of doggy snuggles, and, of course, warm puppy kisses and hugs.
“Research shows that pet therapy improves the emotional well-being of individuals and helps reduces anxiety levels,” said Wellness Program Manager Ryan Manuwa.
Members of the Wellness Team were also outfitted with further resources available to assist Cast Members if they were in need of extra care and support this Christmas season.
“Having this event at the [Disneyland] Resort provides a wonderful release and break for our Cast Members,” said Wellness Event Manager Nancy Murray. “They can sit down, take a deep breath and hug a puppy dog.”
And who couldn’t benefit from more doggy snuggles and puppy kisses?
