Marvel Icon Chris Pratt Reportedly Gone, New Actor Revealed for Upcoming Movie
Chris Pratt is stepping away from a major action project, as reports indicate he will no longer be starring in Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming film, F.A.S.T. Instead, 1923 actor Brandon Sklenar is reportedly in talks to take over the role, shifting the trajectory of the long-anticipated film.
Originally announced in 2018, Sheridan’s F.A.S.T. was set to follow a former special ops commando recruited by the DEA for an elite black ops strike team. “The movie, which has the working title Fast, would be Sheridan’s follow-up to his directorial debut, 2017’s Wind River,” Variety reported. “Sheridan has been eyeing this as his next directorial effort for quite some time, meeting with top talent since summer to find the best actor for the job.”
At the time, Pratt was attached as the film’s lead, with Warner Bros. banking on his star power to get the green light. However, the studio put the project on hold as Sheridan shifted focus to Yellowstone’s second season. Now, as the film gears up again, reports suggest Sklenar may be stepping into the lead role.
“According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Warner Brothers is in the process of developing a film with the working title F.A.S.T., which will be written and directed by Taylor Sheridan,” The Direct explained. “The report also detailed that 1923‘s Brandon Sklenar (who plays Spencer Dutton in that show) is in talks to star as the main character. If Sklenar lands the role, he will be replacing Chris Pratt as the film’s lead actor.”
Pratt, best known for his portrayal of Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has remained a dominant force in Hollywood since his breakthrough on Parks and Recreation. His performances in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) have cemented his place in the MCU. While Vol. 3 marked the conclusion of the current Guardians team, its post-credits scene teased Star-Lord’s return.
So where will he show up next? While there’s no official word yet, speculation points to Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). Coming from the Russo Brothers, Doomsday and Secret Wars will commence filming this year in the United Kingdom and will be filmed back-to-back like Infinity War and Endgame.
Pratt recently collaborated with the Russo Brothers on Netflix’s The Electric State, starring opposite Millie Bobby Brown. Given his ongoing working relationship with the directors, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him return to the Avengers saga, though Marvel Studios has yet to confirm anything.

While stepping away from F.A.S.T., Pratt still has several major projects on the horizon, including Mercy (2026) and Way of the Warrior Kid (TBD). As for Sklenar, he’s coming off a high-profile role in It Ends With Us (2024), where he starred as Atlas Corrigan alongside Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The film has been embroiled in legal troubles, keeping Sklenar’s name in the headlines.
With F.A.S.T. finally back in motion, will Sklenar officially replace Pratt? And how will this change the film’s direction? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
