When Walt Disney World Resort reopened after the COVID closure, there were a lot of things that were different. One of the biggest changes had to do with dining. Not every restaurant was open, what character dining there was, was modified, and buffets were non-existent. Slowly, things have been getting back to a pre-pandemic normal. Just the other day, Disney announced that Cinderella’s Royal Table would be returning to traditional character dining.
And now, we are learning that another popular dining spot will be returning to its much-loved buffet dining.
Chef Mickey’s — a hotspot eatery in Disney’s Contemporary Resort — has been doing family-style dining since the restaurant reopened last year. Chef Mickey’s has always been incredibly popular with families with younger kids, as it features classic character interactions and is just a quick walk or monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom.
Beginning March 1, Chef Mickey’s will return to the buffet-style dining that made it one of the most popular restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort. The news was shared on the Walt Disney World website:
Now through February 28, this restaurant offers family-style dining. The buffet experience will return on March 1. Check back soon to view the buffet menu.
Guests dining at Chef Mickey’s may hear construction noise due to the refurbishment of nearby Guest rooms.
Guests visiting Disney World before March 1, and want to experience a Disney buffet, can dine at a number of delicious spots. Below are the current buffets available.
- Tusker House in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park
- Hollywood & Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- The Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom Park
- Cape May Café at Disney’s Beach Club Resort
- Boma – Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Biergarten Restaurant at EPCOT
While characters are always subject to change, typically diners can enjoy interactions with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto. After dining at Chef Mickey’s, Guests can walk around the gorgeous hotel and experience some great shopping, as well as take in gorgeous views of Bay Lake, Polynesian Village, the Grand Floridian, and the Magic Kingdom.
