HBO Brings Back Forgotten ‘Harry Potter’ Character in New Series!

It’s been nearly three decades since J.K. Rowling first introduced readers to the world of Harry Potter, a series that changed the landscape of young adult fantasy forever. Since then, Harry’s adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry have not only captivated readers and moviegoers alike, but have also shaped an entire generation of fans.

The characters that make up his world have become beloved staples of the Wizarding World, and some have been etched into the hearts of fans as much as the boy who lived himself. Yet, there are still some faces that fans never truly got to know in the movies.

While we all know about the central figures in Harry’s journey—Ron, Hermione, and, of course, the iconic Weasley family—some of the members of that family have remained less present on-screen. One of these characters, however, is about to get the spotlight in a major way in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter reboot series.

For years, fans have been curious about the character of Charlie Weasley, the fifth Weasley sibling who, while mentioned in the books, was almost entirely erased from the movie adaptations. Charlie, who was busy working with dragons in Romania, was only briefly referenced in passing.

But now, HBO has confirmed that Charlie will make an appearance in the new Harry Potter series currently in development.

The Return of Charlie Weasley

It’s no secret that fans have been wondering about Charlie’s inclusion in the new Harry Potter series. Given that the character’s role was never fully explored in the films, many had hoped to see more of him in the future of the Wizarding World. It appears that HBO is delivering on that hope by bringing Charlie back to the fold, albeit with a slightly altered role.

The Weasley family, which consists of Arthur, Molly, Bill, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny, was one of Harry’s closest connections throughout his time at Hogwarts. In fact, they were essentially his second family, offering him a taste of what a loving home could be like, especially after his years with the Dursleys. Charlie’s absence in the films was certainly felt, as he was a fan-favorite among the Weasley clan.

Interestingly, while Charlie’s role was underplayed in the films, he has always been a central figure in the book series. His passion for dragons and his dedication to his work in Romania was just one of the many unique aspects of his character. But now, fans can finally expect to see Charlie, brought to life by a new actor, in the upcoming series.

An Instagram Sneak Peek

HBO even shared a glimpse of the Weasley siblings through an Instagram post that sent fans into a frenzy. The post revealed several of the Weasley children in their new roles, while hinting at Charlie’s absence — he’s still working with dragons in Romania but will be joining his siblings soon.

“The Burrow is nearly full.

Joining our very own Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, we warmly welcome Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, and Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley to the HBO Original Series Harry Potter. (Charlie’s in Romania at the moment but will be joining us soon enough…)”

The HBO Max Reboot

The long-anticipated Harry Potter series reboot is well underway, with HBO Max taking the helm to bring the magical world back to life. The series promises to explore more of the details that the films couldn’t capture due to time constraints and budget limitations. Fans can expect deeper dives into character development and a broader exploration of the magical world beyond what was shown in the movies.

A major component of this reboot is the return of many beloved characters, including Ron, Hermione, and Harry. However, as we’ve already seen with the announcement of Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, this will not be a simple rehash of the films. The new actors will bring their own take on these iconic roles, ensuring a fresh perspective for both new viewers and die-hard fans of the franchise.

The inclusion of Charlie Weasley represents more than just a fan-pleasing Easter egg. It shows that HBO is committed to bringing a deeper, more faithful version of the Wizarding World to life. By paying attention to characters like Charlie, who may have been overlooked in the films, the reboot promises a more comprehensive exploration of the characters that fans have always adored.

As Charlie will likely play a significant role in the series moving forward, it remains to be seen how much screen time he will get in the first season. Will we see his work with dragons come to life in spectacular detail? Or will his return to the Weasley family be more understated, focusing on the reunion of siblings? Either way, it seems clear that Charlie’s character will finally get the attention he deserves.
