You read that title right! The much clamored for Villains land is FINALLY coming to Walt Disney World! This is an announcement we’ve long hoped would come. We know without a doubt that Disney knows all the ways to be W-IC-K-E-D!

The announcement came today at the Parks and Experiences panel at D23 and will feature some of the biggest baddies we just love to hate! The new area will come to Magic Kingdom and will join other exciting expansions to the most visited park in the world!

It’s important keep on mind that this is on the early planning stages. As we saw with the plans for EPCOT, “Blue Sky” Concepts can change and evolve. However, before the Blue Sky announcements Josh D’Amaro said “these are early concepts…but we’re not just dreaming here!’

The timing of the new expansion makes sense. Excitement is building for Universal’s brand new park Epic Universe, which they are heralding as their 4th theme park (they count their water park Volcano Bay as a theme park), Disney needed to answer. Four parks at Universal would make the destinations equal in terms of parks and very likely begin to take away visitors that may have otherwise visited Walt Disney World. They need something to draw guests in and who can do that better than Villains? They’re delightfully devilish and we can’t wait tosee how they make bad look good!

This is absolutely the most exciting news we’ve heard from this year’s D23, and we are so excited to share it with you today. As with most of Disney’s projects, the information we’ve been given about the land in this initial announcement is limited but more details will be coming soon. Stay tuned right here because as soon as we know, you’ll know!

Let us know what you think of this announcement. Did you expect it? Sound off about your thoughts and opinions in the comments!

About Jill Bivins

Jill Bivins has been visiting Disney Parks since she was 2 years old and loves sharing her Disney adventures with the world. She likes to say Disney is in her blood and writing is in her bones — so any time she has the opportunity to combine these loves she is one happy camper! She has a deep abiding love for Epcot and as a die hard Star Wars fan has a serious love for Hollywood Studios as well. When she isn't exploring or writing about Disney Parks, Jill is homeschooling her 8 year old son, playing with her brand new baby son, or pretending to be a farmer on her family homestead (despite being unable to keep even a cactus alive).
